Consecrations can be as simple as raising up an item and stating that it is consecrated or as ceremonial as taking the same item and several hours later stating that it is now consecrated.

This comes down to a personal choice. If you are ceremonial then you are probably going to want to do a very long elaborate beautiful ceremony for every item you plan to use as a magickal tool. And it won't work very well if you don't. Your mind believes the ceremony necessary---and perhaps it truly is.

Though if you could care less for ceremony and believe the power is within you then as long as you truly believe and do not abuse the item then it will be consecrated.

The act of consecrating can be found in almost all paths and religions and you don't have to look very hard to find it.

The key thing to remember about consecrations is that it is an act of making something sacred. This is done with a purpose in mind and should not be taken lightly even if all you do is hold up the item and announce the purpose. You should have a feeling inside that you know is right, then you can be done.

Once the item has been consecrated it is now considered sacred and should not be just simply tossed around. Take care of it, especially if what was consecrated was a person.
