I WANT YOU TO NEED ME
Bobby raced down the hallway to his room. He threw
open the door and headed straight for the phone.
Quickly, he dialed up Hank’s favorite fancy restaurant
and made reservations for two at 7 pm. That done, he
ran down to the med lab trying to come up with the
rest of the plan for that evening.
Hank was working on a new research project when Bobby
came bursting in.
“Yo, Hank!” Bobby yelled.
“I am right here my very over exuberant companion.
You do not have to vocalize so loudly that you rupture
my now very sensitive feline like eardrums.” Hank
replied as he slid his glasses up his great leonine
nose.
“Oh Hank, you will never guess what happened to me!”
Bobby sang out as he bounced and spun around happily.
“I dare say something most extraordinary judging by
your apparent mood and energetic reaction.” Hank
replied as he took hold of his own building excitement
and strangled it. He could smell “Heat” on Bobby and
knew that he was in love again.
“Yes, I just found out that someone I have loved for
years loves me too. And I just had to share it with
you my best friend.” Bobby came over and gave Hank a
very affectionate hug.
Bobby pulled away too quickly to feel Hank stiffed in
his embrace. Looking up at his love Bobby said, “I
want you to meet my special someone tonight at dinner
Blue. You have to dress very nicely we are going to
your favorite restaurant. The reservation is for 7 pm
so I will meet you at the front door at 6. See you
then.” Bobby waved and ran out of the lab on cloud
nine.
Hank, on the other hand, was furious. He hated who
ever it was that Bobby was in love with this time. He
did not want to meet her; all he wanted to do was sit
down and cry after he ripped her heart out of course.
But instead, he threw the nearest book at the wall and
howled his pain. He wanted more than anything for
Bobby to feel that way about him but it just would
never be and he knew it. Bobby would always be only
his best friend. No one, not even Bobby, would ever
want him in this disgusting feline body.
The severe depression that Hank had been dealing with
was now pushed passed his ability to cope. So he
staggered over to the medicine cabinet and opened it.
He pawed through it spilling out several bottles.
Cursing like Logan, Hank kicked the fallen vials away
from himself and continued to look for something that
would help him through this.
------------
Bobby bounced down the hallway to his room happier
than ever. Now all he had to figure out was what to
wear tonight. In his room, he opened his closet and
stared at it in disgust. “Shit I can’t wear any of
these. Uugg!” Smiling a truly huge grin, he thought
of a solution to his clothing problem, “Wait Remy can
help! He has to. I have just too much blackmail
information on him for him to ignore me. Snicker.”
Finding Remy’s room empty he realized that Remy was
probably with Logan in his room. So turning on his
heel, he made a bee line for Logan’s room. Half way
there though, he was stopped by Warren.
“Bobby do you know where that no good son of a bitch
Gambit is? That bastard just broke Rogue’s heart for
the last time and he had the gall to lie and say that
he was fucking Logan now instead. When Logan hears
that the thieving bastard is going to die. I just
hope Logan will let me watch as he kills him.” Warren
said as he sneered evilly in anticipation of Remy’s
demise.
Bobby stood there in shock. He knew that Warren
liked Rogue and hated Remy. But he was not prepared
for the vehemence of Warren’s words.
“Uh uh, I am not totally sure where he is Warren but
I do think you need to calm down.” Bobby replied as
he tried to reach out to lay a calming hand on
Warren’s arm.
“Calm down? Calm down! I will not calm down until I
am holding Gambit’s bleeding smashed and crushed heart
in my hands.” He yelled as his Death persona took
control.
“You will not kill Remy and neither will Logan. In
fact, Logan will probably kill you if you don’t calm
down right now!” Bobby ordered Warren. For the first
time in Bobby’s life he felt like killing a team mate.
Warren was so shocked by the forceful order coming
from Bobby that he just stood there opening and
closing his mouth like a begging Goldfish.
Bobby continued as he gave Warren the sternest and
hardest look he possible could, “I think it is a good
thing that Remy and Rogue broke up for good. They
just weren’t right for each other. Now, instead of
making a bad situation worst why don’t you just go
take care of Rogue. Show her that you would never
hurt her and tell her that you have always wanted her.
Logan will take care of Remy without your help. Oh
yeah by the way, Logan knows already about Remy’s
comment because it’s true.” Bobby turned on his heels
and stomped back the way he came.
When Bobby reached the staircase he raced down and
out the front door and went around the west wing
toward the rear of the building to stand just under
Logan’s bedroom window. He raised himself up on a
column of ice and before he got to the point he could
look into the window he heard Logan and Remy calling
out each other’s name. “Oopps. Shit I still need
Remy’s help.” He said to himself.
Gathering up his courage he reached up and knocked on
the window not daring to look in.
“What the fuck,” yelled Logan? Thump. “Shit, I am
gonna kill who ever it is.” Looking out of the
window, Logan glared down at Bobby. “What the fuck do
you think you are doin’ Popsicle?” growled a very
pissed off Logan. He unsheathed his claws with a
snick.
“Ah, I wanted to warn you. Warren wants to kill Remy
and I need to borrow some clothes from him for my
night out with Hank.” He said all in a mixed rush.
And then gave his best ‘I am a harmless friendly
puppy’ smile while shrugging his shoulders, holding
out his empty hands with the hope that Logan would not
kill him before he could kiss Hank.
Remy having heard Bobby’s speech broke into
hysterical laughter and came over to the window.
Logan looked at Remy in confusion. “Sure mon ami,
take what ever ya like.” Remy then turned around
giving Bobby the best view of his ass Bobby had ever
seen while Logan placed a protective and possessive
hand on it as he pushed Remy back onto the bed.
Bobby lowered himself to the ground and raced through
the mansion back to Remy’s room. After he had
acquired all the things he would need for the night,
he was interrupted by Rogue. “What the hell are you
doin’ in here suga’?” Rogue demanded.
Bobby looking like a deer caught in a headlight as he
stopped and stared at Rogue before saying, “I needed
to borrow some clothes for my date tonight. What are
you doing in here?” He modulated his voice to sound
happy and pleasant while hoping that she did not hear
or see his fear.
“It’s none of your business Ice Cube. Now if you got
what you need I suggest that you leave now.” Rogue
ordered none too politely and with her lips twisted
into a snarl.
“No, I don’t think so Rogue. I will not let you
destroy Remy’s room. You want to mess something up
take it to the Danger Room.” Bobby stated in a voice
filled with ice.
“When did you become a Remy protector? Oh, I get it
you’re screwing him too you son of a bitch.” Rogue
launched her attacked with blinding speed and sent
Bobby flying threw the window of Remy’s room.
Remy and Logan had decided to get dressed and go see
if they could help Bobby with his clothing selections
when they heard the window shatter and Rogue's unique
scream of rage.
Racing to Remy’s room, Logan and Remy found Rogue
standing just inside the broken window glowering in
fury. Seeing a pile of clothes thrown on the floor in
front of Rogue, they realized that Bobby must have
gone out the window.
“Where the hell is Bobby and what are you doing in
Remy’s room Rogue?" Logan growled at her in a tone
that would have scared Galacticus as he crouched and
prepared to fight the enraged Southern Belle.
“What?” She asked distractedly. “Oh it’s just you
two fags.” She said as her green eyes flashed and
narrowed in anger. “He just left.” She snickered as
she pointed over her shoulder with her thumb and then
continued, “And I think you should join him and be the
next one thru.” Rogue lunged at Remy.
Remy threw himself out of the way just as Rogue ran
right into Logan and propelled them both out the door
and into the wall across the hall.
“Snick.” Logan’s claws came out and up cutting
Rogue’s face as she tried to strangle him. Rogue
screamed and Logan roared as they fell to the floor
fighting for all they were worth.
Mean while Remy ran to the window to see if Bobby was
ok. Bobby was lying on his back unconscious. Remy
climbed out the window and to the ground as fast as he
could. He checked Bobby’s pulse and found a weak
thready one but he also found that Bobby was not
breathing. “NON!” Remy screamed. *JEAN, BOBBY NOT
BREATHING AND HE HURT OUTSIDE MOI WINDOW HELP!* Remy
yelled telepathically.
*We are on our way.* Jean sent.
*Hank, Hank where the hell are you? Hank!* *Scott
go to Remy’s room all hell is breaking loose up there
with Rogue and Logan. Bobby is hurt and lying outside
of Remy’s window where Rogue threw him.*
Jean raced outside and found Remy giving Bobby mouth
to mouth. Bobby was just starting to respond when
Jean arrived. “Is he breathing yet?” She asked as
Bobby began to cough.
“Rogue attacked him in moi room. He was getting some
clothes to go on a date tonight when she came back.”
Remy looked pitiful and then mad. “Logan! You take
care of Bobby, Chere. Remy got to help Logan wit’ dat
bitch.” He shouted and headed up the wall back to his
window.
“What happened Jean? What in hell was Remy doing
kissing me? Ouch, damn my back and head hurts. Oh
shit Rogue, she threw me out the window. Rogue wants
to kill Remy and so does Warren.” Bobby stammered
trying to get up again. Giving a gasp of pain, he
fell back as the world spun as he almost passed out
again.
“Don’t do that. You may have seriously hurt your
self.” Jean admonished. “Do you know where Hank is?
I can’t find him and he isn’t answering my calls.”
Jean asked Bobby.
“He was in his lab. I was just there a few minutes
ago. Wait he might be in his room getting ready for
our date.
“You’re what? You and Hank?” Jean asked in
confession.
“Oh shit! Don’t say anything to him. He doesn’t
know this is a date with him. I mean a real date
between him and I. He thinks he is going to meet my
new girlfriend. I was going to spring my feelings on
him tonight at dinner.” Bobby said his words sliding
to a stop and looking at Jean hoping she would
understand.
“When did you decide to do this?” She asked in
startled curiosity.
“Logan and Remy made me see what I was missing. I
have always wanted Hank and I will loose him if I
don’t ever act on my feelings. Logan says that Hank
feels the same way about me. So, I asked him out.”
Bobby confessed.
“Well, I still can’t find Hank. So, I will just have
to take you to the med lab myself. I want to make
sure your back and neck are alright. Remy was not
kissing you he was giving you mouth to mouth. When he
found you, you weren’t breathing.” Jean stated in a
calming tone.
------------
Mean while, Rogue and Logan were tearing up the
hallway and each other. They were not holding back on
their punches they were going for blood. Scott and
Remy were trying to stop them. But both men knew
words alone were not going to work not with both Rogue
and Logan in battle frenzy. But they tried any way
until they could form a plan of action that would stop
this fight and not get anyone else hurt in the
process.
“Rogue, Logan stop NOW!” Scott ordered in full
command voice.
“Logan sil vous plait de chere not wort’ it! Stop!”
Remy called out trying to get Logan’s attention.
About that time Warren came running up shouting, “What
the hell is going on?” Warren seeing that Rogue and
Logan were fighting turned to see who else was near
by. When he saw Remy he said, “You son of a bitch I
am going to kill you this is all your fault!” Warren
then launched himself at Remy with intent to kill.
“Warren don’t get in the middle of this and make it
worse!” Scott shouted as he made a grab for Warren.
Jean looked up at the window, while hearing that the
fighting was only getting worse, she tk’ed Bobby and
herself up and thru the window.
“NO - YOU – DON’T! Warren you stay the hell out of
this!” Jean shouted and tk’ed Warren into the
opposite wall so hard that she almost knocked him out.
“STOP NOW EVERYONE!” commanded Jean as she used her
tk to stop everyone where they were.
“Rogue, Warren I want you two to leave Remy alone.
Your relationship with Remy has been over for a long
time Rogue so just drop it and quit with that poor
heart broken me act. It’s pathetic and everyone but
Warren saw thru it any way. And you Warren, Remy
hasn’t done anything to you so leave him be. And if
you want to help then take Rogue and go get some fresh
air.” Jean ordered pointing down the hall towards the
stairs.
“Remy is…” Rogue started to say but was cut off by
Jean.
“I don’t want to hear a word you have to say before
you calm down and that goes for you to Warren.” Jean
cocked her head to the side and then answered aloud.
“Change that, the Professor wants you two in his
office now. And I have to get Bobby to the med lab to
take care of the injuries that you inflicted on your
team mate when you threw him out a closed window with
all your strength. And Rogue…you better hope that he
is not to badly injured or I’m going to make sure you
regret your rash behavior. Have I made myself clear?”
Jean threatened as the Phoenix fire glowed from her
eyes.
The group nodded their heads yes, even Rogue, because
that was the only part of their collective bodies that
Jean was not holding tight with her tk.
Jean released everyone except Bobby and headed down
the hall to the elevator to get him to the lab while
Rogue and Warren headed for the stairs and the
Professor’s office.
“God I hate family feuds.” Scott declared shaking
his head. “Ok what happened this time Remy? What did
you do to make Rogue break it off with you again?”
“Remy broke it off permanently with de Chere. Remy
don’t intend on ever goin’ back to her,” was Remy’s
petulant response.
“And I will make sure that Rogue never touches him
again. He’s mine now Slim and I ain’t gonna take no
crap from any of ya about it and neither is Remy.”
Logan growled as he placed a possessive hand on Remy’s
back.
“What! You…Remy…together?!” Scott turned white as a
sheet and almost fell over. Grabbing the wall for
support, Scott looked at them in horror. “What in
hell have you done to Logan?” He demanded from Remy.
“Remy didn’t do anything to me. Now leave us alone.
Oh yeah there will be some other interesting pairings
going on later too.” He smirked as he took hold of
Remy’s waist and lead him back down the hall to his
room and shut the door.
With a mental high pitched squeak Scott called out to
his wife, *Logan’s gay?! And and sleeping with
Gambit!*
*I would not call Logan gay dear bi maybe but even
that does not really apply. Remy is bi though. So
calm down everything will be alright. Oh yes and the
other pair that he was referring to is Bobby and Hank.
But if you see Hank don’t tell him. Bobby is
surprising him on their date tonight if Bobby can make
it that is.* She replied as she sent a deep wave of
love to Scott. She hoped that it would help to calm
him down.
------------
Mean while, “Jean I don’t think I am really that
badly hurt. Why don’t you let me down and I can walk
there myself.” Bobby pleaded.
“No. We’re here already and you will stay on the
table until I tell you other wise.” Jean said glaring
at Bobby.
Jean reached the med lab door, opened it and walked
in. She lowered Bobby on to the examination table.
“I still can’t find Hank when I scan the mansion. I
will get the CT equipment set up and see if any
permanent damage has been done.” She told Bobby as
she put on a lab coat.
“Ow! Thanks Jean there is glass in my back you
know.” He yelped as he rolled on to his side to get
off his back.
“Be still you might have broken or injured something
in your back or neck.” Jean ordered as she was
walking over to the lab bench. She turned and noticed
a pill bottle on the floor. ‘I know that Hank isn’t
that careless.’ She thought to herself as she picked
up the bottle and opened the storeroom door that had
been left a jar. Inside she found more pill bottles
and pills scattered all over the floor and Hank lying
next to them. “HANK!” Jean yelled.
Rushing over to him, she gently rolled him over on
his back. “Thank god you’re still breathing.” She
said.
Bobby jumped off the table and ran straight to the
storage room when Jean yelled not even paying any
attention to his own injuries. “Hank! What happened?
Is he hurt?” He cried as he knelt and took Hank’s
head carefully into his lap.
“I don’t know. I don’t see any blood but his heart
is beating very slowly. I think it would be best if I
tk him over to the table to do a full examination.”
She stated as she stood up.
Bobby followed his best friend over to the
examination table.
Jean saw the blood on Bobby’s back and demanded that
he sit down, “Sit down now Bobby. Your back is a mess
and I can see the glass sticking out of you.”
Bobby did as he was told. “Jean I think I have a
concussion because the room is spinning and I think
I’m going to be sick.”
After taking a couple of deep breaths while holding a
trash can that Jean had passed him he said softly,
“Hank what happened to you?”
Jean first took Hank’s blood pressure and pulse rate.
Then she began to look him over closely for any
wounds. Not finding any, she took a blood sample and
entered it into the computer for a complete analysis.
“Alright Bobby, Hank appears to be stable at the
moment. I have checked him and can’t find the cause
of his unconsciousness but considering the evidence I
think it might be an over dose or poisoning. Several
of the bottles on the floor were open.” She said as
she fought to remain calm.
“I need to take care of your back. Stay in that chair
while I get another table set up next to Hank.” She
said with a soft touch to his shoulder.
“Shouldn’t you be pumping his stomach or something?”
He asked in a broken desperate voice.
“Not until I am sure as to what is really going on.
I could end up doing more harm than good if I jump to
conclusions about anything.” Jean stated as she
thought, ‘Please Hank don’t make my assumptions
right’.
The door of the lab opened and the Professor entered
followed by Scott.
“Professor I am glad you’re here. Can you watch for
the results of the blood work while I pull the glass
out of Bobby’s back?” She asked in an almost
desperate tone that only Scott and the Professor would
understand.
“Of course, my dear. How do you feel Bobby?” He
asked with worry and concern written all over his
face.
“I hurt and I’m scared for Hank what happened to him?
I wouldn’t believe it in a million years that Hank
tried to commit suicide.” Bobby whispered his reply.
“Professor,” called Bishop over the intercom.
“Yes Bishop.”
“There is no sign that any intruder entered or left
the build. I reviewed the tapes of the med lab area
and only Hank and Bobby were in there recently.
Furthermore, I have discovered that Hank turned off
the med lab’s cameras. But he did leave the sound
on.” Bishop reported.
“Where there any unusual conversations or noises in
the lab?” asked the Professor.
“Yes Sir. After his conversation with Bobby – Hank
threw something at the wall and howled like he was in
pain.” Bishop replied grimly.
Jean turned to look at Hank and saw the first signs
of reparatory distress and muscle contractions.
“Professor, Hank is going into cardiac arrest!”
Jean moved from Bobby back to Hank. She prepared to
insert a ventilator when the Professor yelled.
“Jean we need to pump his stomach now! He has taken
a lethal over dose of drugs!”
“Hank - No – Never!” Bobby screamed. “Why?” He
begged as he placed his head in his hands and started
to cry and vomiting at the same time.
“It had something to do with your visit with him
earlier I think,” said Bishop as he entered the lab.
“What - why?” Bobby started to ask just before he
passed out in shock.
Scott caught Bobby before he fell off his chair.
“Bishop bring me that other table over here stat.” He
ordered.
After moving the table over Bishop said, “I am going
to check in Hank’s office and see if he wrote anything
down before he did this.” Bishop turned and went into
the small cluttered office in the back of the med lab.
Out of sight of everyone else, Bishop sat down in
Hank’s chair and asked, “Why Hank why?” Bishop just
could not wrap his mind around the thought of Hank
doing something like this.
------------
During the next several hours Jean, the Professor and
Scott worked to stabilize both Hank and Bobby. Bobby
had a serious concussion, cuts and bruises from the
fall from the second story window. He was given some
pain medication and several stitches. Hank, on the
other hand, was still in a coma as the drugs worked
their way out of his system. It was unclear as of yet
if he sustained any brain damage.
The lab was very quiet with no one talking. The only
major sounds were coming from the machines monitoring
both of the injured X-Men being treated there.
------------
Out in the hall Logan started to talk to Bishop as
soon as he came into view as he headed for the lab for
a status report and to see that the other X-Men took a
break to rest as well. “Bish what really happen in
there to Hank?” He said with a jerk of his right
thumb towards the med lab doors.
“Hank took an over dose of drugs Logan. I thought
that was made obvious.” Bishop scowled at the shorter
man. Bishop felt it was pointless to make up reasons
for Hank’s actions until Hank could explain things
himself no one would really know.
“Hank aint that kind. He would never do that.”
Logan pressed his point as he jabbed his finger into
Bishop’s broad chest.
Bishop simply glared at Logan’s hand in disgust and
batted it away.
“All right then here’s a question you can answer. How
come the security system was not on properly in there?
Aint that why you’re here from the future to keep
that stuff in working order? Well why wasn’t it
working damn it?” Logan growled as he moved even
closer to Bishop.
Bishop looked down his nose at Logan and then told
him in no uncertain terms, “Hank takes care of the
security for the lab. He over rode the system from
his office as it turns out about two days ago. The
report says that it was for maintenance purposes. But
when I checked the equipment it was not broken and it
had not been recently worked on either.” Bishop said
with annoyance coloring his tone.
“Hank has been under a great deal of stress lately as
we all have been. I do not know why he did what he
did. But I do know that he will need us when he wakes
up.” Bishop then looked over at a very distraught
Remy sitting curled up in one of the chairs his eyes
wide with fear and glazed with tears.
Walking around Logan and over to Remy, Bishop
crouched down and said in a very low voice, “I think
you should go to your room now. You will do neither
of your friends any good if you turn your self into a
nervous wreck Father.”
Remy looked up at him with very lost eyes and said,
“Moi room a mess now.”
“Remy you’re staying with me remember. Come on
Bishop is right.” Logan reached out to help Remy get
out of the chair.
“I will stay now and watch. You can come back in the
morning.” Bishop stated as he took up a guard
position by the lab door.
“Thanks Bishop,” said Logan. For the first time
since Bishop joined the X-Men Logan saw Bishop as
really a part of the family and not a baby sitter from
the future.
“He is my friend too.” Bishop replied solemnly.
“I see that now,” said Logan as he lifted Remy to his
feet.
------------
Logan led Remy through the corridors of the mansion
to the elevator that would deposit them on the third
floor and Logan’s room. Remy was listless and near to
boneless in Logan’s hands as they moved along. “Remy,
Jean will take care of Hank. You got to believe that.
He’ll make it, I know he will.” He tried to comfort
him.
“How could Henri do dis? Remy don’t know how many
times he talk him out of doin’ somet’ing stupid non.
But dis Remy don’t understand.” Remy whimpered as he
started to shake and go shocky.
Pulling Remy to a halt Logan spun him around to face
him. “What do you mean by ‘he talked you out of doin’
something stupid several times’?” Logan almost
roared.
Remy cringed and tried to pull away from Logan but he
was too strong for him. “Remy just get tired of all
de pain. Sometimes Henri make de pain go away for
him.” He whispered to the growling Canadian.
“How many times Rem has he had to talk to you to keep
you from hurtin’ your self?” Logan asked in a soft
but deadly voice that scared Remy down to his toes.
“Remy don’t rightly know mon ami.” He held up his
hands in surrender and tried again to get away from
Logan.
Logan’s eyes turn to gold as the Wolverine took over.
“Mine!” He shouted and threw Remy over his huge
muscled shoulder and carried him the rest of the way
to his den.
Once inside with the door closed and locked, the
Wolverine put his mate down and began to touch, strip
and examine his mate for signs of recent injuries.
After a thorough exam that left the Cajun completely
naked, Wolverine was pleased to see that there were
only a few bruises that he knew about from before and
nothing new. Standing in front of his mate he tilted
his head back and forced him to look into the
Wolverine’s eyes.
FEAR – His scent his body his emotions everything
about him screamed fear and anguish.
Wolverine looked around himself and back at Remy not
understanding his fear. “Mine.” He stated as he
cocked his head to the side but the word did not help
his mate. Thinking again he said, “Safe in den,” as
he petted him on the shoulder and neck.
All his mate did was lower his head and sigh in
submission, it made the Wolverine mad. Then he
realized it was because of their pack mate. “Alpha
and Beta keep pack mate safe now. Snow Cub will make
Blue better. Blue and Snow Cub will be mates now.
Snow Cub keep him safe.” Wolverine tried to explain
to his mate. Though he often thought to himself that
his mate and some of the other pack mates did not
always understand the way things are and should be.
“Wolverine you want Remy too mon ami?” Remy asked
quietly while staring at him through the veil of his
hair.
Wolverine glowered at his mate like he said something
distasteful. “Mate mine. Safe in den. Pack safe in
den.”
While watching his mate, Wolverine noted the fine
trimmers that flowed over Remy’s well muscled body.
He reached out and rubbed his paw across his mate’s
chest and noted that the skin was cold to his touch.
Stripping off his clothes, he pushed his mate back to
the bed and laid him down then pulling him close.
Remy finally gave in to the comfort that the
Wolverine was giving to him. He all but burrowed into
Logan’s skin as he stroked him and babbled away in
Arcadian.
Soon Wolverine felt all was right with his world
and gave back control to Logan. “Remy?” He asked
urgently fearing that he had hurt him while the
Wolverine was loose.
“Humm?” Remy replied dreamily as he continued to rub
his face against Logan’s broad hairy chest drinking in
his warmth and unique scent.
“Are you alright? I didn’t hurt you did I?” Logan
asked again. He could still smell the lingering fear
and dismay scent on Remy’s skin but it was fading fast
as he became aroused.
“Oui, Cher. Bein now.” He said as he stared up into
Logan’s eyes and saw that they were no longer gold but
blue. “Logan you back mon amour?”
“Yeah kid I’m sorry that I scared you.” He stopped
then continued. “I get guess I lost control again.”
He said dejectedly.
Remy sat up and glared at Logan. “Cher de Wolverine
not hurt Remy ever. He he said I was his his mate
too. Doesn’t dat mean he loves Remy too Logan?” Remy
asked a surprised Logan.
“Yes,” was all he said.
“Remy t’ink dat de Wolverine knew what to do when you
didn’t.” He reached out and cupped Logan’s face in
his hands and pulled him into a soul searing kiss.
Logan wrapped his arms around the lean muscled body
and drew him down on top of him. With his Acadian
blanket firmly in place he began to touch and stroke
his mate into a frenzy.
For the first time in a long time Logan and the
Wolverine were one in the same as they made love to
their cherished mate reaffirming that life would go
on.
------------
At dawn, Bobby awoke from the most horrible nightmare
he had ever had in his whole life. He dreamed that
Hank was dead and it was all his fault. As his mind
began to process where he was he bolted up right and
screamed out Hanks name.
“Hank no you can’t die!” He sobbed.
Bobby climbed out of his bed gingerly just as Jean
came running out of the office at his yell.
“Hank please come back to me.” Bobby begged as he
gently touched Hank’s great furry head. He leaned
down and laid his forehead against Hank’s and started
to cry and call out for him to come back.
Jean came over to Bobby with a chair and pushed him
down into it. “Sit I will get you some water and some
more pain meds.” She told him.
“He will be ok Bobby especially with you here with
him.” Jean said trying to comfort him. “Keep talking
to him. Let him know how you feel. It might be what
he needs to come back to us. It’s worth a try at
least.” Jean went and got the pills and water and
handed them to Bobby.
“Hank I’m so sorry. I didn’t know that you loved me
the way I love you until Logan told me. When I came
down here I was making a date with you. You didn’t
even notice that I never mentioned a name or even said
she or anything. You’re the one with all the brains
between us you should have seen that I was up to
something. You have to come back to me. I can’t live
without you.” He finished as he gave a big yawn. The
emotional strain and concussion amplifying the pain
medications affects on him.
She turned and went back into Hank’s office so Bobby
wouldn’t see her cry.
Deep down in the grey nothing place Hank woke up
abruptly to the sounds of screaming. Bobby’s
screaming. Hank fought his way back up through some
of the darkness but not far enough. He had to help
Bobby. He was closer to the place where the sounds
were coming from and he could now tell that Bobby had
stopped screaming. Now he was talking directly to
him.
‘I’m here Bobby!’ Hank tried to shout but made no
sound. ‘Are you alright? I can’t find you. Where
are you?’
Hank started to really listen to what Bobby was
saying and it stunned him. He did not make a date
with Hank to show off a new girl friend. He had made
a DATE with HIM to tell him he LOVED HIM.
‘Oh God how could I have been so wrong. Bobby I am
trying to come back to you just keep talking and I
will follow your melodious voice. I love you with all
that is in me, heart and soul.’ Hank confessed
soundlessly into the void.
Bobby continued his monolog telling Hank all about
how much he loved him and always had. He talked about
how the restaurant was probably mad at him for not
showing up last night and when they decide to make
their next reservation there they might have to bribe
them in order to secure a time.
As Bobby rambled on about the things he wanted to do
with, for and too him, Hank fought his way back up
through the haze. “Bobby,” he whispered dryly, “you
do not have to do my laundry for the rest of your
natural life when I wake up.”
“HANK!!!! YOU’RE AWAKE!” Bobby screamed and threw
himself on Hank.
Jean came running out and over to Hank.
“Bobby please stop yelling. You’re hurting his ears
and mine for that matter.” She reprimanded him as she
pushed him away and started to examine Hank.
“God I am so sorry. Hank I love you. I need you
don’t ever try to leave me again please!!” The
pleading voice begged. Bobby laid himself across
Hank's great chest in a passionate and very possessive
hug again as soon as Jean moved back.
“I will endeavor to preserver my dear Robert. Can I
have some water please?” He asked. “My throat feels
and tastes like I imagine a cat box would.” He
elaborated as he wrapped one arm around Bobby to
return his enthusiastic hug.
“Hank that is disgusting,” admonished Jean. “Don’t
tire your self out and stay put. You will not leave
this bed or this lab without the Professor’s or my
authorization. Do I make myself perfectly clear
Hank?” She demanded an answer of Hank.
“Your wish is my command my lady.” Hank tried to
joke but closing his eyes in shame and making a face
foiling his attempt at humor.
After taking a small sip of water that Bobby handed
him Hank said, “I love you with all my heart Robert
and I have for a very long time. I just could not
endure watching you go through another failed
relationship which tears your heart to shreds or worse
that you had finally found the one.” He confessed his
deepest secret.
“And yes my dear I will stay right here so long as
Bobby remains here too,” his voice pleaded as he
looked up embarrassed at Jean.
“Of course I will stay with you.” Bobby began and
was cut off by Jean.
“He has to stay any way Hank. He took an unscheduled
flight out of Remy’s bedroom window. He has a
concussion, bruises and several stitched lacerations
caused by glass that was imbedded in his back when he
fell to the ground.” Jean cataloged Bobby’s injuries
for Hank. She hoped his concern for Bobby would be
part of the reason that would keep both men in the med
lab quietly for a while.
“Bobby! Remy hurt you? Why? What happened?” Hank
asked frantically as he tried to sit up.
“No lie down big guy please. I will explain and
everything will be ok. I will be ok.” Bobby said as
he pushed Hank back down.
“Rogue and Remy had another fight. I was borrowing
some clothes from Remy for our date. She found me in
his room when she came back for another round only
Remy wasn’t there. So I stood up to her in his
defense. I knew she was going to trash his room as
soon as I left so I stopped her and she rammed into me
at full force and sent me out the window.” He
explained quietly.
------------
Logan had just come into the hall leading to the lab
when Bobby screamed that Hank was awake. So Logan and
Bishop charged in to see what was going on. The
conversation going on was both serious and emotional
and the two men stopped to wait until Bobby finished
his explanation of what happened before butting in.
“Ice Cube got that out about right Hank even with
that bump on his head,” Logan snickered, “and in
almost one breath too.”
“Logan, Bishop what are you doing here?” asked a
horrified Hank.
“We are here Henry because you tried to commit
suicide. We need an explanation as to why you felt it
necessary to harm your self and scare the rest of us
out of at least ten years worth of life.” Bishop
demanded as he crossed his arms over his chest and
glowered at Hank.
“Bishop you can interrogate him when he is well,”
came the deep voice of the Professor as he entered the
lab behind them.
“Hank it is good to see you awake at last. You gave
us a horrible scare yesterday as did Bobby though that
was not his fault.” Xavier said with worry coloring
his every word.
“I…” Hank began but then stopped. “Does everyone
know?” He whispered.
“Yes I am afraid they do. There will be time enough
later for talking about it though. But right now what
I want to hear is that you will not do that again.
And if you promise that, tomorrow we will move you to
your room so long as Bobby can stay in there with
you.” The Professor stated.
“I can promise that I will not attempt to swallow
every pill in the medicine cabinet again.” He said
shyly. “I am sorry. I just felt so alone and
unwanted. And this new body…” The disgust and hatred
he had of his new form evident in his every word and
gesture.
“You are neither unloved nor unwanted Henry. The
whole team has been worried sick. Even Warren and
Rogue begged to come back to be with you.” The
Professor stated.
“NO! I don’t want that bitch any…” Bobby’s rant was
cut short.
“They will be coming back in a few days. We will
have a meeting and the abuse that has been going on
between various team members will stop! Have I made
myself clear, it stops now from all sides?” He
ordered an answer from his students.
“Yes sir,” several voices replied in chorus.
“Now I suggest that you two get some more rest it is
only 6 am and you will not be going any where for the
next several days. Jean, I can take over the work
here. Go get some rest and tell Scott and the rest of
the team that Hank appears to be doing better now that
he is awake.” He gently ordered as he shoed her out
of the lab.
“Thank you Professor.” She said as she kissed him on
the forehead as she headed to her own quarters.
“Ya sure you don’t need any help here Chuck?” Logan
asked still very concerned about both Hank and Bobby.
“We will be fine. All I plan for now is to take
another blood test from Henry and check Bobby’s
concussion. You and Bishop may leave now. Come back
at noon with lunch for all of us and then you can
visit.” The Professor said.
“Ok Chuck.” Logan said as he turned to leave he
grabbed Bishop by the arm and pulled him out with him.
