The Longwall
Faceline
dedicated to the existential joys
compiled by Brigantia Stone, revised March 1999
Religious
vocation and professional dedication can be combined in one life,
without muddling either one.
Scientific and technical things you may wish to look at:
Note: all of these links will involve jumping to another
web-site; depending on the current level of Internet traffic,
the transfer may take a few moments. None of these sites have a back-link to this page:
- A set of calculators
for moon-phases, moonrise, moonset and other useful astronomical
events, courtesy of the United States Naval Observatory.
- Documents related to the history of coal mining in Nova Scotia,
as arranged by Gary W. Ellerbrok at the University College of
Cape Breton.
- Several pages of historic coal-mining
information from Ohio State University, including pictures of
old longwall coal-mining machinery, circa 1900.
- The National Coal Mining Museum of England's graphical tour.
They are justifiably proud of their efforts to preserve an underground
colliery in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
- An extensive set of documents on land-use issues and geotechnics
of coal-mine subsidence
in and around Golden Colorado, compiled by Paul Murray and Erin
Wallin of the Colorado School of Mines.
Religious things you may wish to look at:
- The homepage of the Gardnerian congregation which I serve as High Priestess.
It tells you a bit about the coven's connections to the broader
family of our faith.
- Wild Rose Outer Grove's web-space and library.
- First-person thoughts
on being a priestess in
the wilds of Alberta, where the Wicca are few and the wolves are many.
- The homepage of the local Pagan church,
Covenant of Gaia.
- Pacific Northwest Pagan and Craft contact links compiled by Nine Houses of Gaia in Portland, Oregon. Worth visiting if you intend to travel in the Northwest States, or into Alberta or British Columbia.
- The homepage of the Society of Elder Faiths, a Pagan religious organisation in Massachusetts, among whose members are a fair number of dear old friends. Also provides a link to the White-Handled Bowling League.
- Many chapters of Counseling Basics for Wiccan Clergy, a handbook written by three Gardnerian HPSs. Also offers links to Jehana Silverwing's collection of Pagan and Wiccan essays and resources.
- The 1998 online version of the Army Chaplain's Handbook, edited by J. Gordon Melton and James R. Lewis of the Institute for the Study of American Religion. Also available by itself: the full text of their chapter on Gardnerian Wicca.
Links from my own scrapbook:
-
Lady Galadriel’s
home page.
- The personal homepage of a dear friend of mine, Lady Susan,
who has certainly worked hard for that title.
- Lady Bhride's trenchant advice for seekers, worth reading by all who are searching the Web for coven contacts.
- Kyril Oakwind's essay on Gardnerianism, as seen by a former coven leader in the Midwest; she is, alas, unaware of the existence of other Gardnerian web-sites.
- A vast collection of Pagan and Craft essays by Mike Nichols, a Midwestern Witch who was initiated in 1970 and has, as the saying goes, "seen it all."
