Index of "thoughts"

Well, Let's See...

It's been a while since I added anything to this page. Judging from the e-mails I've received, someone's reading it. My thoughts today are not as solid as they have been for my previous mental wanderings. I just got done reading an anti-Amway site. And, after reading it, I thank God (again) that He saw fit to release us from the bondage of materialism which that Corporation (and it's monkeys, the Amway Motivational Organizations "AMO's") encourage. We were on that ride for about four years - knowing that we would one day have a Mercedes, a Jag, fur coats, big rings, tons of charitable donations to pride ourselves on, etc. We were told to "visualize" it. You know, "Think and Grow Rich". All we had to do was to keep the "dream" on our refrigerator, and we would have it.

When I asked our upline Emerald once why, if Amway was so full of Christians, weren't more things like taking care of the poor stressed. (In fact, the opposite is stressed - they are poor because God has not blessed them - hmm, but Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor...") His answer to me was that it wasn't tangible enough. He said that people have to have something tangible in front of them - they need to have something they can touch and see to motivate them. Looking back on that conversation, I can't help but think about Mother Teresa. She did touch, see, smell and hear the poor. She knew what they needed, and the answer was not a Rolex. The answer was not an "opportunity". The answer was not "hope". The answer was love. A love that transcends the outward appearance of the one receiving the love. I do not claim to come within miles of the love and Christianity that she practiced. I am a pathetic example of a Christian with many faults, sins and sorrows. But I do know how to balance one image against another, and when I put Amway next to Mother Teresa, I see on one hand a huge, shining example of Christian love and respect for the human being. On the other hand, I see a tiny, pathetic example of the love of mammon.

I pray that anyone who may read this to seriously consider engaging in the kind of deception that Amway fosters and encourages to make money. As one Diamond so refreshingly admitted, Amway is about making money and everything else just goes along with it.

I recently had a talk with a current Emerald and I look forward to meeting with him and his wife in the near future. I brought up some of my concerns about the "business". He did a commendable job of answering my queries. But, I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation of the tools money. When we meet again, I will focus on that topic.

Now that the Impeachment trial is behind us, I have decided to avoid any further attempt to remind the Republican party that they are about freedom and responsibility. I plan to change my party affiliation to the Constitutional Party. When I heard that there were Republicans who were going to let the First Felon off, I was sick. I expected the Democrats to follow lock-step behind Clinton (possibly out of fear for their lives), but why the Republicans? It's a sad day when political health is more important than justice. May God have mercy on their souls. They are all complicit in the demise of this country. When we have 70% of polled Americans thinking that it's OK what Clinton did, we are in serious trouble. And it's not going to get better. As long as the New Age idea that "anything goes" permeates everything, we can expect to see more and more of this Clintonesque behavior.
