There will be others

There will be others
to wear the purple;
to cut unnecessary throats with necessary daggers;
to decide which is the enemy of the people
and to give the people rhythm when they dance upon his blood.

There will be others
to wash their hands in water;
to decide which is more dangerous:
A murderer or a saint;
and to make another cross for another son of man:

There will be others,
have no doubt.

But you, if you bring the dagger to the master
If you bring the nails for the cross
if you dance hastily as you are told
if you are being silent,

Watch:

Those who wear the purple come before the lord
and speak no word. And with pride he slices their proud bodies.

For they are in his body made.

And you - he'll look you straight in the eye
and you shall lower yours,
and he will not recognize himself within you:

"Are you the one I sent below,
Part of me, and of my-self,
maker of decisions, and bearer of results?
Those who do right are mine,
and those who do wrong are of me,
but you - where did you come from?"

I don't know what place is yours,
but I believe it will be
a hell of nothingness
where your master will be a bemused impotent,
who, when you come in front of him and ask:
"Is it decided, Finally? Shall I go to hell or heaven?"
will shrug and look befuddled, and say:
"I don't know".
