Strike me a match

Strike me a match.
I want to see your face.
I want to see if you can really
Lead me out of this place.

Give me some light.
I want to see you clear:
Are you the one they told me about,
the one so far, so near?

I've kneeled so many times in life
Don't care if I kneel once more:
Just tell me if you're a new one I kneel to
Or did I meet you before?

They tell me I never really met God
well, you and I know it's true
But the god I'm seeking, the one that's freakin' -
me out! - tell me, is that you?

I've been kneeling to you through others
Well, others they ain't worth a thing
I won't pay respects to servants no more
Got to pay my respects to the king..

And I don't ask for much, just to hear your voice
past the misery men bring each other,
and I just want to know that my heart can grow
if my heart has a love and a brother

And I just want to know that life is more
then a ball that I throw and I catch..
O God of hosts, of stars and black-holes:
O God! Light me a match.
