It Wasn't Watkins Glen, but 400
Flocked to PTSO's 70's Dance

By Marcella Lawson

It was a collection of old verses, hip threads and cool vibes. The platforms were stepping high to the ringing of the bell bottoms at The P.T.S.O. sponsored "Stay in School 70's Dance." It was a huge success with over 400 students in attendance.

Central joined the national movement, reviving 70's culture. 70's radio stations are all over the dial. John Travolta is once again a box office headliner and at Central, parents, students, and teachers were doing the hustle.

"It was groovy!" said senior Tim Graves, in response to the hip happening.

Students sported long hair, Afros, beads and searched their parents' closets and the Salvation Army for 70's style outfits. Looking like a Motown MC, Laurian Gray won the costume contest.

The D.J. kicked the disco rhythms from back in the days, including the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, and the Village People. "It was cool. I could dig another jam like that," said Gray.
