Karthik Seshadri's Sitar Concert - Sep 26, 1998
THTCCB presents WORLD RENOWNED SITARIST Karthik Seshadri ( Ravi
Shankar's foremost disciple ) on Saturday Sep 26, 1998 at 5pm in
Temple Auditorium.
Admission: Adult: $10, Child: $5
Kartik Seshadri is acclaimed as one of the finest representatives of
the younger generation of Indian classical musicians and the foremost
disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar on sitar. Kartik has had the distinct
honor of accompanying Pandit Ravi Shankar in major concert halls
throughtout the world: India, Europe, Middle East,Japan, Mexico
and United States including Carnegie Hall. Kartik was hailed as a
child prodigy by critics and other prominent musicians when he began
performing full length solo recitals at the age of six. As a young
genious, Kartik had an illustrious performing career, and in 1965 he
met the world renowned mastero Pandit Ravi Shankar, who was already
a
profound musical influence in his life. Kartik performs extensively
in
India and abroad.
Kartk Seshadri will be accompanied on Tabla by Arup Chatterjee ( son
of the eminent tabla player Shri Pankaj Chattopadhyay of Calcutta).
He
is one of the outstanding and most sought after tabla artist of the
younger
generation today.
