Dan Duke, football coach at Jefferson High School in Daly City, is appealing for funds to purchase a new scoreboard.
“Because of detrimental budget cuts to the school’s extracurricular activities, I must fund-raise all year around,” he said. “To say the least, it’s a major challenge to keep our football program competitively equipped.”
Duke added, “This past season, our very old football scoreboard completely wore out. It broke down for the last time in our championship game vs. Menlo High School. Even though we won the game and the PAL championship, it is very disappointing knowing our Jefferson Indians will enter the 1999 football season as returning champions without a scoreboard.”
The cost of a scoreboard, including installation, is $15,000. To donate, make your check payable to: Jefferson High School Football Scoreboard Fund. Mail to: Attn: Dan Duke, Jefferson High School, 6996 Mission St., Daly City, CA 94014.
