Vacation
By Beth Miller
To get up early in the morning to the sounds of water lapping and wind whistling
To eat your breakfast watching the fog roll off the lake
To sit on a rock, dreaming, not knowing how long you’ve been there
To glide through the water, sitting next to loons and gulls
To sing without melody in a horrible
To go without all the luxuries in a simplistic life
To leave behind all the wars, deaths, and troubles
To forget all the lists and schedules and duties
To rest, relax, and enjoy
The few moments of silence and solitude
And peace.
