Clan Tharkold is the culmination of mainly three Astarian's hopes and dreams, these members being Devin, Miriam and Byron.
Devin has played in Astaria for over a year and a half. In this time, he was the first Guildmaster of the Fighter's Guild in the second incarnation of Astaria as Seiya-Wu, honorable warrior and general of the Astarian armed forces. He left the Fighters to try his hand at his foe's guild, the Thieves, and found that he excels at following the dark path. He was honored by the Wizard Perrin by being invited as one of a select few Astarian players to playtest the new Paladin's Guild. He brought Seiya back as a Paladin. Seiya once again had many great deeds and stories to tell, but in the end, as before, Seiya left the realm. Devin came back, changed forever in his absence, and ascended to the ranks of Wizardry shortly thereafter. He stepped down after a month and is back to stay as a player, as Seiya-Wu, Paladin once again.
Miriam has been an Astarian for several years, as many different characters, these being Elanor, Nyx, Kali and now Miriam. All but Miriam were Mages, and except for Miriam, all have been either Archmage or damn close. She has since suicided Miriam and restarted Nyx as her original namesake, a Mage. She currently is not quite an active Astarian, and is not a part of Clan Tharkold.
Byron is a new addition to the ranks of Astaria, only being here since November, but he and Devin have known each other all of their irl adult life and a good part of their childhood. He has grown quite powerful in Astaria, both as a player and also as a Cleric in the guild. He currently leads the Clerics as their Guildmaster. Because of this huge responsibility, he has voluntarily stepped down from the Clan Chieftain spot so he can concentrate on his Guild without being hindered by Clan politics too much.
Since the formation of Clan Tharkold, we have grown in power rapidly. Right now we have thirteen members, ten of which are very active, playing at least once a day. We have members from several of the different guilds, but are a little Thief-heavy at the moment.
We are a clan of role-players, with events played out for fun, such as mass-equipment runs, large Tharkold parties, running around the realms together doing absolutely nothing, and the "holodeck" where we stage mock battles and such.
The clan abode is very large and detailed in descriptions. Members are encouraged to write and submit descriptions and/or ideas for any rooms existing or to be added. The abode is always growing. It currently has over 40 rooms, with rooms always being added as they are needed, or just put in because someone has a good idea for one.
We have 16 closets, with plans in the works for at least 2 more. The closets are always very well stocked, with equipment for all members. We make it a point to cater to all members, not just a few select. All equipment is enhanced as soon as feasable after a reboot. The closets are split and organized by type, these being weapons (further organized by bladed and non-bladed weapon closets), armor (again organized by type), miscelaneous gear (these being rings, necklaces, amulets, charmed pvault eq, etc.), misc. items (potions and healing items mainly),and also at least one closet filled with pkill toys, sometimes more depending upon specific circumstances.
Some pre-requesites for membership now...
1.) Members must be 110% loyal to the clan. Anything discussed on the Clan line stays inside the Clan, regardless of the situation. Many times, Clan members engage in activities which require stealth or anonymity. This will be protected inside the Clan at all times. Period. No exceptions. (Yes, this also means no errant Clanview'ing of shadowed Thieves) Any problems with this must be brought up with one of the clan officers immediately.
2.) Members must not be squeamish about pkilling. This is not saying that you have to pkill people. If clan members don't want to, we don't force you to. But, sometimes a pkill is the only way feasable to solve a problem, and we will protect clan members unto death.
3.) Members are encouraged to know and learn as much as possible about Astaria and it's denizens, both players and monsters. If you know thine enemy, you have already won the battle. Also this is so we as a clan can ask members to do something like "Go get the clan a Ring of Fire Protection" and you will know exactly where it is and how to go about getting it.
4.) Assistance with anything at all is readily available at all times for all members, in whatever members need help with. We want our members to be happy and content inside the clan, levelling at your own pace you are comfortable with. But if you are the proverbial "power gamer" the help is there to reach your goal rapidly.
