ARIES:

Heather - associated with Aries; it's bushy vigorous, hardy and ornamental at the same time. It is known for its antiseptic and diuretic medicinal properties, useful in treating urinary tract infections. Heather is also associated with the sign of Scorpio.

Camomile - a well known treatment for soothing stress-related migraines which so often affect Aries people.

Daisy - originates from an oriental name meaning 'rare pearl', and symbolises the kind of anxious, impatient and exclusive love often experienced by Aries people.

TAURUS:

Gentian - associated with Taurus because of its slow flowering and its longevity. Indeed, the yellow gentian can live for up to 50yrs. In ancient times, its roots were used in love rituals to encourage reciprocal affection and to stimulate sensuality.

White or purple Lilac - of Persian origin, the supreme flower of love. In the same way as the swallow is a forerunner of spring, the flowering lilac announces the season for love, dedicated to Venus, ruling planet of Taurus people.

Lily of the Valley - was also used in love spells, hence the French custom of offering it to loved ones on the 1st of May. It helps to stimulate the intellectual faculties and the curiousity of Taureans who are often slow and traditional thinkers.

Gemini:

Lavender-Symbolises the fulfilment of wishes and dreams of love. Its scent has a soothing effect on mental agitation common to Gemini people. It can be used to help people who have trouble going to sleep.

Narcissus-a powerfulm heady scent which can make you feel dreamy. It has medicinal properties helpful to those who have asthma and nervous disorders, which are often experienced by Gemini people.

Peony-associated with Gemini because of the beautiful red colour of some varieties. It has soothing properties which may be beneficial to those suffering from nervous disorders.

Cancer:

Honeysuckle-like Honeysuckle, Cancer people will only flourish in a suitable, peaceful place. It has always symbolised nostalgia - an idealised way of looking at the past.

Iris-the flower of immortality, dear to the heart of Cancer people who often yearn for time to stop. Its properties stimulate and encourage inspiration and creative imagination.

St. John's Wort-nicknamed 'herb of the fairies', protects against demons of anguish, melancholy and harmful brooding, which can affect Cancer people. It calms the soul and fortifies the mind.

Leo:

Virgo:

Buttercup-pretty little flower with a self-confident appearance. Gives a boost to Virgoans who tend to doubt and underestimate themselves.

Chicory-helps Virgoans with depressive moods they tend to get and stimulates their digestive systems.

Foxglove-nicknamed the 'Virgin's finger' because legend has it that Mary used it to cure a wound on her thumb. Believed to protect well-being and health which Virgoans consider very important.

Libra:

Dahlia-associated with Librans because of its beautiful, symmetrical appearance and its subtle scent. Which echoes the importance Librans place on looks, shape and standards.

Rose-queen of flowers with its strong and intoxicating scent, the symbol of perfect eteral love. When they discovered the tomb of Tutankhamen in 1922, archaelogist found several undamaged bouquets of roses which had been placed on his coffin near 3,200 yrs before by his wife Queen Ankhsenamon. It is a beautiful, fragile, delicate, precious and refined flower; qualities which fit Librans well.

Violet-these flowers once grew amongst the roses and hyacinths in the garden where Hades-Pluto kept Persephone captive. In ancient times they were used to make love potions. Associated with the gentleness, exquisite charm and the need for harmony and the delicacy common to Librans.

Scorpio:

Chrysanthemum-name means literally 'golden flower'. It symbolises plenitude, perfection and immortality. It flowers during the period that corresponds to Scorpio. Nicknamed the flower of 'All Saint's Day' because it is the symbol of eternal life.

Orchid-regarded as the flower of love and sensuality. Associated with the reproductive organs which are closely connected to Scorpions. In the Middle Ages potions made from the root of its flowers were used as an aphrodisiac.

Poppy-has narcotic and hallocinogenic qualities, but can also act as a deadly poison. Associated with sleep, oblivion, death and resurrection; all relevant to Scorpions.

Sagittarius:

Angelica-flower of the angel or more precisely the Archangel Raphael, the healer, who according to legend revealed its medicianl properties; one of which was healing the plague. Symbolises harmonious connection between material and spiritual life, both necessary for the fulfilment of Sagittarians.

Jasmine-sweet-scented, the symbol of happiness and prosperity. Medicinal properties help maintain a practical mind and a highly developed intellect.

Marigold-the flower of happiness and providence. In Latin it means 'following the Sun'. The tincture calendula which is extracted from it has antiseptic and healing properties. The marigold is thought to make people sociable,communicate, understanding, tolerant and kind which are the kind of qualities that Sagittarians have or hope to possess.

Capricorn:

Nasturtium-Nasturtium gets its name from its hooded-shaped flowers which are like those hoods worn by the Franciscan monks. It is well-known as a tonic, its stimulating properties and is meant to encourage flexibility and openmindedness which is sometimes lacking in Capricornians. It helps Capricornians to fight against senility, as they naturally tend to suffer from premature ageing.

Holly-remains green in winter and is the symbol of the reappearance of day and light which occures during the winter solstice, when the Sun enters the sign of Capricorn. It is a token of happiness, long life and wealth.

Mallow-according to Pliny the Elder, a Roman writer and naturalist who lived in the first century AD, 'whoever drinks daily half a cup of mallow sap will avoid all illnesses'. It is well-known for casting out dark and depressing thoughts which can plague Capricornians.

Aquarius:

Laurel-In Ancient Greece, laurel was dedicated to Dionysus the god of wine and to Apollo who used to chew it to aid his prophecies. In Rome it was associated with Jupiter and the symbol of glory. The French word baccalaureat (from the Latin bacca laurea which means 'laurel berry'), takes its name from the laurel wreath bestowed upon scholars and poets. These elements reveal affinities with the contrasting and complex qualities of Aquarians.

Primula-with its green leaves, is as the name indicates the first of the spring flowers. However it is associated to the second second winter sign as it symbolises hope, renewal, aspirations, future plans, and also free-thinking.

Verbena-if you rub verbena ointment onto your skin it is claimed that it will protect it from ultraviolet rays. It appeases the restlessness of Aquarians, moderates their enthusiasm and relieves the aches and cramps they tend to suffer from.

Pisces

Red Poppy-beautiful red flower from the poppy family, which together with the Cornflower and Daisy represent the colours of the French flag. Since Ancient times it has been reknown for treating insomnia and emotional disorders which Pisceans tend to suffer from. It also helps them to cope with everyday life.

Forget Me Not-associated with memory and quickness of the mind which it stimulates, fidelity and consistancy, it releases Pisceans from anxiety and the dark thoughts which they tend to harbour.

Sage-'saves' and 'cures all illnesses'. Physicians from Ancient times and modern herbalists agree on its universal virtues.
