Parish Organizational Structure

 

 

 

Pastoral Council

 

Purpose

To offer counsel to the parish pastor on all matters affecting the life, mission and ministry of the parish community.

 

Nature

The council is consultative in nature. It means an exercise of shared responsibility and collegiality with the pastor; thus establishes accountability and is not a delegation of jurisdictional power of the pastor.

 

Functions

 

 

 

The Various Committees

 

Administration Committee

 To assist the parish in the day-to-day management and administration of the parish.

Bahasa Co-ordinating Committee

 To actuate all the members and new members into a new life in Christ.

 To form new members.

 To increase the members' spiritual life.

Catechetical Committee

 To provide on-going faith formation programs for pupils of primary schools, students of secondary schools and also to initiate children/adults of appropriate ages for the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Reconciliation.

 To prepare students of the parish to be active members of the forthcoming Christian communities.

 To design and implement formation programs in conjunction with the formation and development of small Christian communities.

Chinese Co-ordinating

 To unite all Chinese speaking parishioners and to lead them to more involvement in all aspects of parish activities.

Education Committee

 To provide an avenue for parishioners to develop their potential and innate abilities to become effective contributing members of the community.

 To provide parishioners opportunities for interaction among members of the community.

Family Life Committee

 To prepare parents and help them understand their role in providing their children with experiences as part of a community of faith.

 To help couples intending to get married prepare for the life long commitment based on Christ's teachings.

 To help married couples strengthen their relationship with each other as well as with GOD.

Filipino Co-ordinating Committee

 To draw more Filipinos to the Church that their stay in Brunei Darussalam be not only focused towards earning a living but also living lives of holiness with the support of brothers and sisters within household sharing groups.

 To encourage more participation of Filipino parishioners in Church activities so that they may be able to have fellowship with brothers and sisters with other cultures and nationalities.

 To co-ordinate the activities of Filipino parishioners so that they may be able to worship and practice the Catholic faith in the light of their own tradition and culture.

Finance Committee

 To safeguard the funds of the parish and to ensure that the funds are properly invested with good terms.

 Functions:

 Assists the Parish Priest develop a three year fiscal plan for the implementation of the policies and programs developed during the pastoral planning assembly.

 Submits a three month financial statement to the pastoral Council.

 Reviews banking arrangements, capital expenditures and long term contacts.

 Develops and implements fund-raising activities.

Liturgy Committee

 To lead the faithful through full participation in the liturgical celebrations especially the Eucharistic Sacrifice of the Mass.

Maintenance Committee

 To serve the needs of the parishioners so that they may fulfil their commitment to the Lord.

 Functions:

 Oversee the processing and procedure of bids from private contractors.

 Purchase, installation, renewal and disposal of equipment and other fixed assets and properties of the parish.

Outreach Committee

 To undertake shepherding services and welcome new parishioners within and outside the church premises.

 To undertake home and hospital visitations and to promote block and family rosaries.

 Parish Life Committee

 To organize Church activities at the Parish level to enable parishioners to get together.

 To promote cultural exchange.

 To encourage interaction between racial groupings.

 To cater meals at seminars and gatherings.

 Prayer & Renewal Committee

 To provide the necessary formation from July 1997 to June 1998 for the 10 existing Service Groups of the General Prayer Meeting, to funtion Cell Group, in preparation for the setting up of Basic Christian Communities in the Parish.

 To provide Seminars, Retreats, Teaching and Devotional Activities as mentioned in the Action Plan of the Prayer and Renewal Committee for Pastcom.

 Social Communications Committee

 To provide for inter and intra parish communication.

 To produce & disseminate Catholic literature, audio-visuals and religious articles.

 To manage and administer a library.

 To maintain an archive of all parish activities.

 Youth Committee

 To plan and implement programs and activities for the Catholic Youth between 12-30 years old.

 To reinforce the structure established in the General Youth Assembly 1998.

 To promote relationship between Youth, their parents and the community.

 To develop youth leaders within our youth.

 To increase spirituality awareness among our youth.
