LOST AT SEA

The blue-green mist
lay heavy on the shore,

Gently masking
where you stood no more.

The air was weighted
with the loss of you.

The waves were breaking
in a sadder blue.

I saw the stars,
all crying salty tears,

As the sound of the surf
pounded in my ears.

The great expanse of my eternal grief

Encompassed all that was, with no relief.

The moon fell down, into the sand, to hide,

I spread my soul upon the mournful tide.

The writhing pain was all you left of me,

And the empty shell washed away to sea.
