Courage by vincenZo

Summer nites long since gone, the cooler nites about to take over, he wanted someone in his life. He knew who. He had seen her pass by his way many times. Just to walk down the street with her, just to sit by her and watch the evening sneak up over Chicago. If only...

Courage. It should have been easy MONTHS ago just to introduce himself-but would she know I was alive?

Her eyes, the way she walked, everything about her, he was overwhelmed with. He walked down to Randolph and Michigan, noticed the multitudes of people in their fast-paced lives, and then, he saw her. There she was, the most beautiful vision his eyes could land on.

Today is the day, I'm going to talk to her. He ran through the onslaught of noisy cars and noisy people.

She went to the park as if she never noticed him at all. But she did. When will he ever get up the courage to say hello? A simple nod would be nice! she thought.

He almost got hit by a car in his infatuated bliss, but made it easily across the car jammed street. He followed quietly behind her at a fairly good distance, and thought she didn't see him.

She stopped and turned to look at him with those beautiful green eyes. He stopped with one foot in the air, ears alert, and tail strait out. She sat eloquently in a shaded spot under a huge tree and squinted at him; it made his fur stand on end.

He trotted over to where she sat and his whiskers twitched. He sat down in front of her, admiring her markings and eyes.

It took you long enough-

I'm shy-

Not shy enough- she thought as she smiled.

Would you like to go down to the lake with me?

Sure -she squinted.

The sun began to set and highlite Lake Michigan, also highlighting the silky coats of two cats who would befriend one another in a city that is not too kind to those of the stray feline type.

So when did you notice me?

I have always noticed you -she squinted. 1
