I have often wondered why, around Memorial Day and Veteran's Day in particular, we see so many movies made, books & memoirs written, speeches made, about World War II, and, to a lesser extent, World War I, but, with few (admittedly remarkable) exceptions, so little about Viet Nam. I think about how lucky I am that so few of the boys with whom I grew up were lost in that particular jungle (I checked the state in which I was born. Only one name I knew showed up - which brought instant tears, for the last time I saw him he was 17 years old and totally enjoying his life). |

Don't the politicians and those who pull all those political strings realize that this same open wound still gapes wide, continues to fester, at the very heart of what this county is? A bandaid here and there just isn't enough. The fact that there HAVE been some strides made in the past is no reason to STOP making waves. This isn't an issue that will fade away to nothing. We have GOT to keep going (just like that silly pink rabbit) until EVERYONE has been found, accounted for AND RETURNED HOME. Please. Do not turn your back on history. Help us help them! |
