Samhain Thoughts

Samhain is a cross quarter station of the Wheel of the Year. Samhain is generally considered to be a remembrance and celebration of the ancestors. Samhain is the time when the veils betwixt the seen and the unseen are thinnest. Samhain is the time in the natural year when the light begins to darken in it's retrogression to the darkest day-Yule.

Samhain is also the beginning of the Celtic year. Also, I would add that many cultures celebrate this time with the same kind of emphasis, as is demonstrated by the Mexican "Dios de los Muertos" and other similar celebrations. It seems that on this side of the equator (I'm not aware of similar celebrations at this time of year down under) that almost all indigenous cultures recognized the dead. Which says to me, at least that this is a principle of the seasons, not just a tradition.
