One and Only

Big Daddy Weave

Big Daddy Weave pops onto the scene with a new sound that is reminiscent of mainstream artists, Dave Matthews Band.  There seems to be something unique to their sound and it is obvious from the very beginning of the CD.  One of the features of the group that adds to the unique flair of this CD is the prominence of the saxophone.

"In Christ" starts the CD off with a bang and is one of the best songs lyrically in recent memory.  Their Biblically based lyrics are something else that makes Big Daddy Weave stand out and the first song shows this.  "In Christ" is this year's "Call on Jesus".  Where "Call on Jesus" focused on the power of the believer in Jesus name, "In Christ" speaks of the position of the believer.  This song is already climbing the charts and it should hit number one and stay there a while. "In Christ" could easily be song of the year nomination, when Dove time rolls around.  The acoustic guitar intro to the second song is great and then the sax kicks in and gets the song rolling.  "Friend Like You" speaks of God being a friend like no other and how thankful the artist is for the love of Christ.  "One and Only" slows down the tempo but the lyrics are still great confessing that "God, you are my One and Only".

"Audience of One" could easily make its way into the praise and worship times of many churches as could track 8 "Sacrifice". Track 10 seems to be looking from the vantage point of God when it says " To all those who are weary and heavy laden, lay at the feet of the one who knows you best" and the simple chorus promises "I will give you rest".

Between the unique sound accomplished by the sax and the guitar work and the amazing lyrics this is a great CD from top to bottom and is worth a listen by everyone.
