Students looked at slides of the fabulous reliquary figures from Gabon. They then used pen and ink to create drawings of their own reliquaries, complete with the decorative textures which are stamped into these fascinating metal figures.

picture of student artwork: African thumb piano, called a sanza Students learned that the sanza, an African thumb piano is a popular instrument in many African cultures. Students used wood backboards and keys to create their own African-style sanzas which really sound great!!!
