Flashlight heat glimmering off the patio
skipping light beams across the aquamarine surface
slithering snake slips through breaking the surface
in wait until some small particle is in range
for it to swallow whole.
Between the covert movements of the snake and
the white heat pouring down,
the gem of kaleidescope colours
ripple
divulging its secret facets.
