These letters tell the computer what type of document you are attempting to access. The letters stand for “Hypertext Transfer Protocol.”

.www

This identifies the type of computer that will send you the document.

.geocities.com

This part of the URL is called the “domain name.” This is the publisher of the website. It is often the name of the business or company sponsoring the site. This is also referred to as the server.

.com

These letters tell what type of organization posted the page.

These denote that the page you are attempting to access are in specific folders on the servers hard drive.

q    Understand how to copy an image from Internet Explorer and Paste it into a document in Microsoft Word.

Step 1:    Launch Internet Explorer.

Step 2:    Launch Microsoft Word.

Step 3:    Locate a graphic or picture on the Web that you would like to paste into a document.

Step 4:    Right click on the graphic.

Step 5:    Left click on “Copy.”

Step 6:    In Microsoft Word, choose “Edit” from the menu bar.

Step 7:    Left click on “Paste.”
