The Zapotecs: Princes, Priests, and Peasants

Joseph Whitecotton's book is very informative but is a difficult read. I thoroughly enjoyed what he had to say, but there was something in the way he presented it that turned me off to him as an author. In fact, his writing style so disgusted me that I could not bring myself to finish the book, though I really enjoyed the information I gleaned from what I did read. The book is so packed with information, though, that I will eventually read it again to get all that I can from it. Is it worth reading? Yes, at least until something better comes along (which, I must admit, I have yet to see). 1
