I like windmills. I'm not sure why, but I used live in Rayleigh in Essex where there was one, and on returning to East Anglia I've discovered some interesting ones.
It would seem that some people like them so much that they have entire Web sites devoted to windmills, so I thought I'd include some links to them. If you know of any other good ones, let me know.
A good place for researching windmills in Cambridgeshire is the Cambridgeshire Collection in Cambridge Central Public Library. Many windmills are derelict or have been converted into houses and so do not always appear on current OS maps. Your cycling windmill detective is on their trail however, and I have grid references! Watch this space. Also coming soon: Sarah's cycling windmill tours.... If you're in Cambridgeshire, watch out for the Green Party's sponsored windmill cycle ride on Sunday 18 April. Going to Fulbourn, Little Wilbraham, Swaffham Prior, Soham and Wicken Fen.
