JABARA FAMILY HISTORY
Beni Ghasan, The Tribe of Ghasan, Our Forefathers
They originally dwelt in the south eastern part of Arabia in the year of 200 A.D. The reason they were called Beni Ghasan is because a dam burst in part of Yeman, and they had to leave that country and come as immigrants to the western part of Syria. They settled in the land of Houran, which lays south of Damascus. They arrived west from Arabia, and camped around a spring of water called the Ghasan Spring-thus the name Beni Ghasan.
Some of the tribes stayed in the land of Houran until this time, and some of them came west near the shores of the Mediterrean Sea. Part of them settled in Merjyoun, and some of them went north to Homs, in northern Syria, and they are still there now.
I will name the families who settled in Merjyoun: My family, the Jabara, the Gholmia, the Bayouth, the Razook, the Andeel, the Rashid, the Naifeh, the Barkat, the Farha, the Hamara, the Farhood, the Rahal, the Theeba, the Mady.
My Great-grandfather was named Said Jabara, he married my great-grandmother, Naomi Samara, they had 2 children, my Grandmother, Mariam Jabara, and my great-uncle, Yusif Jabara. Then comes my mother from Mariam and my grandfather, Kamil Wehba, then comes me! And that is it for now! I hope to soon be adding my children one day in the future!
