Yarrow:

Attracts love and calm, self confidence. Courage. Soothing to the heart. Said to stimulate hair growth, when used as shampoo. Aleviates dandruff. Used in love sachets and marriage charms. Worn as an Amulet it wards off negativity.

Vervain:

Ancient and sacred even to the Egyptians, Persians and Druids, Vervain is said to be a purifyer of the physical and spiritual body. Attracts and brings luck in love and prosperity. Calms the body and nerves while stimulating the mind. Can promote lucid dreams and out of body travels. Can be hung on your bed to prevent nightmares. Amulets are sometimes given to babies, for it is said it makes the bearer a quick learner.

Tarragon:

Protection. Prevents fatigue, stimulates the appetite, relieves gastrointestinal disorders, colic and rheumatism. Enhances and protects health and well-being.

Sassafras:

Attracts prosperity. Can be placed in the purse or wallet to attract money. Or can be burned for the same purpose. Calms and balances the mind.

Pennyroyal:

Creates a shield of protection. Repels negativity. Energizes the body and calms the mind and nerves. When put in your shoe it can prevent weariness during travel and strengthens the body in general. When worn, it acts against the evil eye and aids in making business deals.

Peony:

Dry the root, or several roots and make into a necklace or bracelet. The roots may be carved into attractive shapes. This is very protective. Use the root in breaking any enchantment by hanging it around the neck of the enchanted one. Hang up the root or burn it to stop storms.

Orris:

Aphrodesiac. Attracts love and romance. Carry the root to find a loved one. The violet-like scent grows more. Add to lavender and rosebuds to make a sachet to lay among clothes infusing the with the scent of love. Use in small quantities to fumigate the house before dates.

Thyme:

Burn as incense to purge and fumigate magical rooms. A pillow stuffed with thyme can cure nightmares. Wear a sprig of the herb to funerals to help protect you from the negativity of the mourners.

Thistle:

Throw thistle onto a fire if you fear being struck by lightning during a storm. Grow it in your garden to ward off thieves. A bowl of Thistle in a room energizes and strengthens those within it, so it is often used in a sick persons room.

Sage:

Permeates the environment and creates a barrier of protection while neutralizing the existing negativity. Sacred to Native Americans as a "smudging" herb. Attracts well-being and prosperity. Brings what is needed.

Gardenia:

The fresh blossoms are placed in sick rooms or on healing alters to aid the healing process. The dried petals are also added to healing incenses and mixtures. Dried gardenia is scattered around a room to induce good vibrations and is also added to Moon incenses. They are possessed of very high spiritual vibrations.

Eucalyptus:

Stuff healing poppets and pillows with the leaves. Ring blue candles with eucalyptus leaves and burn for the healing vibrations.You can string immature (green) pods and hang them around your neck to cure a cold or sore throat.

Geranium:

You can wear the flower or add them to love sachets. The white variety is worn to promote fertility, so BE CAREFUL, while the red ones are a good protection and aid in healing. Plant geraniums in your garden (especially the red and pink) to protect your house and keep snakes away.

Cedar:

The smoke of the Cedar is purifying, and can help cure "Bad Dreams". Cedar hung in the home can protect from lightning strikes. A Cedar stick carved into three prongs and placed in the ground, prongs up, will protect from all evil. Carrying a piece of Cedar in your purse or wallet attracts money.

Frankincense:

When burned, Frankincense releases powerful vibrations which not only uplift those in the area, but also drive away evil and negativity. Frankincense is therefore used in incenses of excorcisms, purification, protection and consecration. It is also burned to induce visions and to aid in meditation.

Jasmine:

Good luck in love and wealth. Dried jasmine flowers are added to sachets and other love mixtures. They will attract a spiritual (as opposed to a physical) love. The flowers will also draw wealth and money when carried, burned or worn. When jasmine is burned in the bedroom it will cause prophetic dreams, and the flowers are smelled to induce sleep.

Lavender:

An ingredient in the purification bath sachet, lavender is also used in purification incenses. Lavender is a frequent addition to the healing sachets and is added to incenses and burned to induce sleep. During the Renaisance era it was believed that lavender would protect a womans chastity when worn with rosemary. Carry it if you want to see 'ghosts'.

Myrrh:

Burn to purify and protect. The smoke is used to consecrate, purify and bless objects such as rings, talismans, amulets and ritual tools. The resin is burned during healing rituals and purifications. Myrrh is one of the standard magical herbs.

Hawthorn:

Make a lightning-charm of the wood. Tie up leaves in protection sachets. Witches often danced beneath Hawthorns in England, and they still do. The hawthorn is sacred to the fairies, and is part of the tree fairytriad of England: 'Oak, Ash and Thorn', and where all three trees grow together it is said one can see fairies.

Patchouly:

Patchouly is used in money and prosperity mixtures and spells. It is sprikled on money, added to purses and wallets and sprinkled around the bases of green candles. Patchouly is also used to attract people and promote lust.

Pine:

Burn the crushed and dried needle in the winter to purify the home. This is good when mixed with equal parts of juniper and cedar. The cones are carried to promote fertility, and the nuts are eaten for the same reason.

Sandalwood:

Add to healing incenses and burn as a good purifying agent in any room. Also used in making healing oils and incenses. Write your wish on a chip of sandalwood and burn in the censer or cauldron. As it burns it sets the magic flowing, but remember to also visualize your wish at the same time.

Rose:

Wash your hands in rose water before mixing up your love mixtures. Bear the buds if you are to find a love. Burn the petals in the bedroom before going to sleep and have a wonderous night. Scatter fresh rose petals in the bedroom on your honeymoon night. To really show you love someone, send him or her red roses, the flower of love.

Clove:

Worn to drive away hostile and/or negative forces. Carried to strengthen the memory and added to sachets to attract a member of the opposite sex. A necklace of cloves, strung on red thread using a needle, is often given to babies as a protective device, BUT, hang where they can't touch them.

Dragon's Blood:

Dragon's blood is a resin from the Palm tree that is burned to entice an errant lover to return. This is usually done by a woman at night while looking out an open window. A stick of dragon's blood placed under the matress or pillow will cure impotency. A pinch of dragon's blood added to other incenses will increase their potency and power.

Nutmeg:

Carrying nutmeg is said to strengthen your clairvoyant powers. Nutmegs have also been carried as good luck charms and to ward off rheumatism, cold sores, boils and sties.
To ensure your lovers fidelity, cut a nutmeg into exactly 4 pieces. Bury one in the earth. throw one off a cliff into the air. burn the third part, and boil the last one in water. Drink a sip of the water and take this last piece of nutmeg with you everywhere. Sleep with it under your pillow at night. No one will tempt your mate.

Olive:

Have a headache? Write Athena's name on an olive leaf and press it against the head or wear it on the body and it will cure a headache. When eaten, olives ensure fertility as well as sexual potency in men, and can be lust-inducing. A branch of olive hung over your door will guard the house against all evils. Olive leaves, when worn, bring good luck.

Poppy:

Poppy flowers or seeds are used in mixtures designed to aid in sleep. They are also eaten or carried to promote fertility and to attract luck and money. The seeds are also added to food to induce love, or are used in love sachets.

Soak poppy seeds in wine for 15 days. Then drink the wine each day for 5 days while fasting. According to tradition you will be able to make yourself invisible at will.

Honeysuckle:

Ring green candles with honeysuckle flowers to attract money. Place them in a vase in the house for the same purpose. Lightly crush the flowers and rub them on your forehead to heighten your psychic abilities. If a honeysuckle grows near the home it will bring good luck.

Mugwort:

Put mugwort in your shoes to prevent fatigue on long journeys. Rub the fresh young leaves on magic mirrors and crystal balls to enhance their powers. Add to scrying, clairvoyance and divination incenses. The plants powers are strongest when picked on the full moon.

Juniper:

A sprig of juniper will protect against accidents and attacks by wild animals. It also guards against ghosts and sickness. When carried or burned, juniper helps the psychic powers and breaks hexes and curses, and drives off snakes. Juniper is also used in anti-theft sachets and will guard against thieves.

Rosemary:

Add rosemary to all purification bath sachets, love incenses, excorcism mixtures and protection incenses. Wear a chaplet of rosemary to aid the memory. Because of its connection with the sea, rosemary is used in all sea rituals. A good protective sachet can be made using rosemary, garlic (to stop storms) and mistletoe (to guard against lightning storms). Drink rosemary tea before a test to ensure that the mind is fully awake and functioning.

Peppermint:

Add peppermint to healing incenses and charms. Rub onto the patient, if possible, especially over the afflicted area. Inhale the fragrance of peppermint if you have trouble falling asleep. Rub it against furniture, walls and floors to cleanse them of evil and negativity.

Chamomile:

Sometimes spelled Camomile. Chamomile is used to attract money, and washing your hands with it is sometimes used by gamblers to ensure winning. It is used in meditation and sleep incenses, and can also be added to your bath to attract love. It is also a purifying and protective herb and when sprinkled around your property it removes curses and spells cast against you.

Bay:

Bay is used in clairvoyance and wisdom brews. Burn the leaves to induce visions. Place the leaves under your pillow to induce prophetic dreams. It is an EXCELLENT purification herb and is worn as an amulet to ward off negativity and evil. Bay leaves mixed with sandalwood can be burned to remove curses and evil spells. Bay leaves give strength to atheletes if worn at the time of the competition.

Make incense with benzoin, cinnamon and basil to attract customers and bring success in business. Use benzoin in purification incenses to clear the surrounding area. A tincture of benzoin is used to preserve magical oils.

Orange:

The dried peel and seeds are added to love sachets, and the flowers to those sachets designed to lead to wedded bliss. The fresh or dried blossoms are added to baths to make the bather more attractive. The fruit, when eaten, will hinder lust. The Chinese have long considered oranges symbols of luck and good fortune.

Ash:

You can carve a piece of ash into a solar cross (equal armed) and carry it with you at sea to protect against drowning. Ash is also used in sea rituals because it represents the power that resides in water. Ash is also, like most trees, considered to be protective. An ash branch hung over the door to ward off maligning influences.

Birch:

Birch twigs have been used to excorcise spirits by gently striking possessed people or animals since birch is considered a purifying or cleansing herb. Birch is also used for protection. The traditional broom of the Witches is made from birch twigs, and baby's cradles were once made from birch to protect their helpless charges.

Chickory:

Chickory is used to remove all obstacles that might crop up in your life. It is carried for this purpose. At one time chickory was thought to make its possessor invisible. If you annoint your body with hickory juice you will obtain favors from great people. Chickory is also carried to promote frugality.

Dill:

Dill is used in love sachets as well as protection sachets and incenses. Tie up dried seed heads for protection. Hang in a baby's cradle to protect the baby. Men, add a half-handful of dill seeds to your bathwater to attract women to you.

Mistletoe:

Mistletoe should be picked on Midsummers Eve, or when the Moon is six days old (i.e. six days after the New Moon). Wear mistletoe as a protective amulet, or to help conceive. The wood is often carved into rings or other magical objects. The herb hung anywhere is an excellent all-around protective device. Kiss your loved one beneath the mistletoe and you'll stay in love.

Marjoram:

Add marjoram to all love charms. Place a bit of the herb in every room for protection, but this should be changed every month. Give it to a grieving person to draw happiness into their life. Violets and marjoram, mixed together, are worn as an amulet in the winter months to protect against colds.

Dry large catnip leaves and use as bookmarks in magical books. Give to your cat to sniff and play with and to create a psychic bond between you and your cat. It is also intoxicating to the cat. Grown near the home or hung above the door, catnip attracts good spirits and great luck.

Ferns offer powerful protection. Include it in vases of flowers. Dried fern is thrown on hot coals to exorcise evil spirits. When burned out of doors it causes rain to fall.
