This newest series of books
by the prolific Lawrence Sanders stars the thirty-something
Archy McNally, son of a prominent West Palm Beach attorney and a rather ditzy mother
who talks to her plants. Archie conducts "discreet inquiries" for his
father's law firm. He
also cheats on his girlfriend, drives a red Miata, dines at the Pelican Club (a dive), and
has
one of the most fun "voices" around. These books are like peanuts--easy
going down and
addictive!

The following series of books
by Jonathan Kellerman features a child psychologist
named Alex Delaware. Alex is occasionally called in to consult on police work,
usually by
his friend Milo Sturgis--a gay detective with the LAPD. Not only is each individual
book
in this series a good read, Alex's relationships with his love Robin, their dog Spike,
and their friendship with Milo develop throughout the series.

The books listed here are just for fun. They
have no redeeming social or literary value other than the fact that they are interesting
and relatively easy to read. They're the books you throw into a tote to take on a
plane, to the beach, or just out on the back porch. Many of my selections are a
series, since I like to read several books about the same character. I've tried to
list those books by date of publication so you can read them in order. In other
instances I've listed several books by an author I like.
