My McAlpin(e) Family Ancestors




My First Mcalpin Family Ancestor, Alexander, arrived in America in the middle 1700's. He was fleeing Scotland because of his involvement in the Battle of Culloden in 1746.


Alexander McAlpin-----Married 3 times-Mary Haggard (3rd wife)
Born: 1720's or 30's. He was a Captain in the American Revolution. His son's Robert and Solomon also served in the Revolutionary War. Alexander served in the Craven Co. Regiment of the S.C. Millitia. All on the American Side. Before the revolution he was a lieut. in 1757 in a regiment commanded by Col. Robert Pawley

Soloman McAlpin--Elizabeth Caruthers
Born 1761 or '62 in S. C. The second son of Alexander and his first wife Married around 1730 Died the 6th of March 1825 in S.C. He served both on foot and on horseback during the American Revolution under Capt. Robert Anderson. he was granted 200 acr. of land in Ga. He was a Justice of the Peace in Ebert Co. Ga. He held office in Morgan Co. Ga. in 1801 and 1810. Once owned the land where Greenboro Ala. is now

Jefferson Caruthers McAlpin--Virginia Fannies Cunliff (she lived to 104)
Born 1809-1810 in Ga. Married ?? Died February 16,, 1866 in Cass Co. Tex.
Served in the Ala. State Legislature from Sumter Co.. Was a lawyer by profession. Owned land in Cass Co. Tex. Je was member of the Texas State ldgislature from 1846 to 1862

First Wife: Mary McKissock in 1878
Second Wife: Minnie Daffan Nichols in 1890
He was a carpenter; said to have bulil the first Merry-go-Round in the State of Texas. He was a musician who could play most any kind of instument.
Died June 29, 1909

Virginia Francis McAlpine------Benjamin Harrison Fesmire
She was born on April 28, 1891 in Marlin Falls Co. Texas. She died in 1955 in N. Mex.
