written by someone who really has studied and learned to 
understand the ways and personalities of cougars:
 Catamount, by  Michael Peak

Another set of books, Cat Fantastic, edited by 
Andre Norton and Martin Greenberg

and the Unicorn series by John Lee

and, of course, the Narnia chronicles, by C.S. Lewis
