Fight censorship in the Web!
Hello, everybody! Mabuhay from the Philippines! Nabara a kablaaw kadakayo, apo! Dumanonkayo! Halina kayo! Welcome!

You have reached the home of Sadiri, a guy from the Philippines who wants to share some literary attempts and undertakings in that part of the world.

Besides fascination with computers and the WWW, Sadiri loves writing and reading very much. And he created this page for you, literary connoiseurs, to have some taste of what the heck Philippine regional literature is.

Sadiri's going to offer you some of his poetry and fiction in original Iluko. What the hell is Iluko? That's the language (or dialect) of the Ilokano people. Sadiri is an Ilokano guy. And it now becomes obvious to you that his name is also an Iluko word. Well, yes, and it means "guide" or "pioneer" or "model." It depends.

Ilokano is one of the major ethnic or cultural groups in the Philippines. There are millions of them there and hundreds of thousand all over the world. Iluko language is the third major dialect in the Philippines, after Tagalog (or Filipino, the lingua franca) and Cebuano.

Sadiri wants to promote the literature of the Ilokanos. There are a lot of Ilokano writers around, national and international. In fact, one of the biggest and most active organization of writers in the Philippines is an Ilokano group called GUMIL Filipinas (Gunglo dagiti Mannurat nga Ilokano iti Filipinas) or Association of Ilokano Writers in the Philippines which has chapters in all Ilokano provinces (or where Ilokano writers are located) such as Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya including Metro Manila, the Philippines' capital, and abroad in Hawaii, California, Guam and even Greece.

But of course, Sadiri will give you not just his Iluko writings. He will have you read some of his Tagalog and English works as well. And mind you, for all peoples to understand (and appreciate) his Iluko or Tagalog compositions, he will also feature an English translation of them here soon. Watch out for it!

Watch out also for Sadiri's collection of articles by veteran Ilokano writers about Iluko literature, the Ilokanos, and the birth and status quo of GUMIL. They will be featured in Sadiri's Anthology or in the special section of this page dedicated to the history of Iluko Literature.

Burnay E-zine
The first Iluko magazine on the Net featuring original poetry,
fiction, essays, novels, photography and digital arts by Ilokano
writers and artists. It has also the first all-Iluko and all-Ilokano WWW
bulletin board where Ilokanos from all over the online world meet,
interact and debate on ideas and things concerning Ilokandia,
the Philippines and others.
