April 16, 2003 |
1. Lab 14/ New Balance running shoe ad preliminaries: (1) What is the USP? (2) Do you have a call to action; (3) What is the theme of your ad? (4) Why did you make it the way you did? (5) If you used jargon or slang, justify why you used it; (6) Do you have 10 headlines, 90-100 words of copy and your memo to me?. 2. Lab 14: An advertisement. Design and write an ad based on information collected in and out of lecture on the New Balance 716 running shoe. Make sure you have visited www.newbalance.com before you come to lab. 3. You will judge the top ad in class. Here's how the judging works: Each of you will get a scorecard. You will look at the ads of all of your classmates. Make sure you DO NOT put your name on the ad itself. The ad that you think is the best in the class will get 3 points; the second best gets 2 points; and the third best gets 1 point. You will hand in your scorecard, and I will tally up the points. The top-three ads will get awards. 4. Return Lab 13. 5. Award for top student (highest GPA through Lab 13) in this lab section. 6. Have a safe and happy summer. Get those internship letters out ASAP. 7. Again, I will be teaching a literary journalism class next fall. I hope you will consider taking it. What is literary journalism? It is journalism practiced with a literary twist. The emphasis will be on reporting in-depth and telling stories in an engaging, more literary fashion. Your articles will be written for publication in magazines. The course number if JOU 4031 5055X -- Specialized Journalism. It meets Tuesdays 4th-6th periods. It should be fun. Hope you will consider taking it. If you want to know more about the literary journalism class, come by and see me in Weimer G038. |
