The city of Carcassonne is about 100 km south-west of Toulouse, in France. The old fortifications consist of double walls with towers at frequent intervals. The city has been under siege many times since it's original construction in 48 A.C. In 1884 Viollet-le-Duc had begun the restoration. There are presently about 1000 people living within the city walls.
