Hello everyone,
My name is Stefanie Giess and as of August 1st I will be your advisor. I am currently at the end of my third year here in Japan and after three wonderful years of teaching I am excited to be moving into the office world.
I am originally from the US, specifically California, and it does not seem like all that long ago that I was sitting at home waiting with bated breath for this handbook, so I know what you are going through!! You might be nervous, excited, or even afraid, but that’s why I am here. Part of my job is to assist you with your questions, problems, worries and to share in your discoveries and joys.
When I came on the JET programme I intended to stay for only one year but all that changed the minute I stepped foot into Sendai, and now I seem to be here indefinitely. I hope that this happens to you too! I will do my best to help you to have a memorable experience in Sendai.
I am thrilled to have you coming to Sendai. In my opinion it is the best place in Japan to be on the JET programme. You are all very lucky to be in Sendai, which offers the convenience of a city with the peace of the countryside all rolled into one. I am so looking forward to meeting you face to face and getting to know you better.
