Suggested Reading
These are books I personally recommend. They've helped me not only get my foot in the door, but open a whole new universe of possibility and understnding without which I would not be who I am today. Of course these are not the only books to read. They may not even be right for everyone. I only know they've worked for me.
"True Magick: A Beginner's Guide" by Amber K - The best beginner's book I've found. It was recommended to me by a Priest, and I can't think of another book I would suggest before it to a newcomer.
"Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham - The basics of Wicca in a nutshell. Although I am not Wiccan, this book was very informative and offered a lot of information to digest. It encourages each individual to find their own path- rather than conforming to something they don't understand or agree with 100%. I would suggest any of Scott's books.
"Wicca Candle Magick" by Gerina Dunwich - A well written handbook for candle magick.
"Wicca for One" by Raymond Buckland - Another great guide for the Old Religion.
"Celtic Women's Spirituality" by Edain McCoy - This book is special to me because I am a Celtic Pagan. If you find yourself drawn to the same area this is a wonderful introduction to the history and lore of the Celtic Traditions.
"The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk - This book explores the great mystery of faith and life. None of it is carved in stone. It leads you down a path that lets you draw your own conclusions. A great book.
