A simple throne stripped of its King
Oh queen shorn of her mate
While thieving one last pause, I cling
For earth to bare my weight
My fingers splayed between the blades
Of grass upon this hill
Each breath ushers a new decade
Adrift a sea of chlorophyll
Although our pace seemed gradual
We leased just enough time
To overcome the obstacles
And grasp each other's mind
Yet even now resolve descends
To dwell within my spine
Its roots were old, and planted when
Your hands clasped onto mine
Misplaced and often wavering
Perceived to be obscure
The puppet finally shed her strings
Determined to endure
Able to claim the world at will
Her universe in palm
No quest spirit cannot fulfill
Relieved of any qualm
Indeed, such insights you can buy
Wisdom demands It's price
But offers naught the where or why
Behind our sacrifice
I harbor no urge to inquire
Decisions Fate proclaim
A King with much to be admired
Has passed along his flame
