Angelica Root: (Angelica archangelica)
Fresh, peppery, woody, herbaceous. Phototoxic. Avoid during pregnancy and diabetes. Uplifting, energetic. To be used to refresh and renew.

Anise: (Pimpinella anisum)
Distinctive scent of licorice - rich and sweet. For Bronchitis, colds, coughs, flatulence, flu, muscle aches, rheumatism.

B

Balsam, Peru: (Myroxylon pereirae)
Sweet, fresh, earthy, balsamic. For Bronchitis, chapped skin, colds, coughing, eczema, flu, poor circulation, rashes, sensitive skin, stress.

Basil: (Ocimum basilicum)
Sweet, herbaceous, licorice-like, slightly campherous. For Bronchitis, colds, coughs, exhaustion, flatulence, flu, gout, insect bites, insect repellent, muscle aches, rheumatism, sinusitis.

Bay: (Pimenta racemosa)
Medicinal, fruity, spicy, herbaceous aroma. For dandruff, hair care, neuralgia, oily skin, poor circulation, sprains, strains. Avoid in alcoholism, in haemophilia, in prostatic cancer, with kidney and liver problems and if taking anticoagulants.

Bay Laurel: (Laurus nobilis)
Herbacous, fruity, fresh, camphorous. For amenorrhea, colds, flu, loss of appetite, tonsillitis.

Beeswax: (Apis mellifera)
Rich, sweet, floral, honey aroma. For perfume, as it's not therapeutic.

Benzoin: (Styrax tonkinensis)
Rich, warm, slightly woody, creamy, vanilla. For arthritis, bronchitis, chapped skin, coughing, laryngitis, stress.

Bergamot: (Citrus bergamia)
Fresh, orange/lemon/citrusy, slightly floral. For acne, abscesses, anxiety, boils, cold sores, cystitis, depression, halitosis, itching, loss of appetite, oily skin, psoriasis, stress. Phototoxic.

Bergamot Mint: (Mentha Citrata)
Fresh, minty, citrusy, softer than peppermint, about the strength of spearmint. Possibly similar in therapeutic use to peppermint or spearmint.

Black Pepper:
Warm, peppery. Stimulating scent. Chilbains, colds, constipation, digestive problems, flatulence, heartburn, indigestion, loss of appetite, muscle aches and pains, sinus congestion.

Bois-de-rose: (Aniba rosaeodora)
Sweet, woody, fruity, floral aroma. For acne, colds, dry skin, dull skin, fever, flu, frigidity, headache, oily skin, scars, sensitive skin, stress, stretch marks.

Boronia: (Boronia megastigma)
Rich, complex floral. Used primarily in perfumery and aromatics.

Cajeput: (Melaleuca leucadendron)
Fresh, campherous aroma with a fruity note. For asthma, Bronchitis, coughs, muscle aches, oily skin, rheumatism, sinusitis, sore throat, spots. May cause skin irritation.

Cardamum: (Elettaria cardamomum)
Spicy, woody, rich, sweet. For appetite (loss of), colic, fatigue, halitosis, stress.

Carrot Seed: (Daucus carota)
Earthy, woody, warm. It does not resemble the smell of carrots and is considered harsh or unpleasant by some. For eczema, gout, mature skin, toxin build-up, water retention.

Cedarwood, Atlas: (Cedrus atlantica)
Woody, sweet, sharper note than Virginian cedarwood, slight aroma reminiscent of artificial mothballs, balsamic. For acne, arthritis, bronchitis, coughing, cystitis, dandruff, dermatitis, stress. Avoid during pregnancy.

Cedarwood, Virginian: (Juniperus virginiana)
Fresh, woody, balsamic. It strongly resembles the aroma of cedar chests and closets. Acne, arthritis, bronchitis, coughs, cystitis, dandruff, dermatitis, insect repellant, stress. Avoid during pregnancy.

Chamomile, German: (Matricaria chamomilla)
Sweet, fruity, herbaceous. Abscesses, allergies, arthritis, boils, colic, cuts, cystitis, dermatitis, dysmenorrhea, earache, flatulence, hair, headache, inflamed skin, insect bites, insomnia, nausea, neuralgia, PMS, rheumatism, sores, sprains, strains, stress, wounds. May cause dermatitis in some.

Chamomile, Roman: (Anthemis nobilis)
Bright, crisp, sweet, fruity, herbaceous. Abscesses, allergies, arthritis, boils, colic, cuts, cystitis, dermatitis, dysmenorrhea, earache, flatulence, hair, headache, inflamed skin, insect bites, insomnia, nausea, neuralgia, PMS, rheumatism, sores, sprains, strains, stress, wounds. May cause dermatitis in some.

Cinnamon: (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
Much richer in aroma than ground cinnamon. Peppery, earthy, spicy, bright yet slightly woodsy. Constipation, exhaustion, flatulence, lice, low blood pressure, rheumatism, scabies, stress. Mucous membrane irritant and strong skin sensitizer. Avoid in alcoholism, in haemophilia, in prostatic cancer, with kidney and liver problems and if taking anticoagulants. Only the oil from the leaf should be used.

Citronella: (Cymbopogon nardus)
Citrusy (similar to lemongrass), slightly fruity, fresh, sweet. Excessive perspiration, fatigue, headache, insect repellant, oily skin. Avoid during Pregnancy.

Clary Sage: (Salvia sclarea)
Bright, earthy, herbaceous, with a subtle fruity note. Amenorrhea, asthma, coughing, dysmenorrhea, exhaustion, gas, labor pains, sore throat, stress.

Clove Bud: (Eugenia caryophyllata)
Spicy, warming yet slightly bitter, woody, reminiscent of true clove buds, but richer. Arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism, sprains, strains, toothache. Avoid in alcoholism, in haemophilia, in prostatic cancer, with kidney and liver problems and if taking anticoagulants.

Coriander: (Coriandrum sativum)
Sweet, herbaceous, spicy, woody, slightly fruity. Aches, arthritis, colic, fatigue, grout, indigestion, nausea, rheumatism.

Cypress: (Cupressus sempervirens)
Fresh, herbaceous, slightly woody evergreen aroma. Excessive perspiration, hemorrhoids, menorrhagia, oily skin, rheumatism, vericse veins.

Dill: (Anethum graveolens)
Fresh, sweet, herbaceous, slightly earthy. Amenorrhea, flatulence, griping pains.

E

Elemi: (Canarium luzonicum)
Fresh, citrusy, peppery, spicy. Bronchitis, catarrh, extreme coughing, mature skin, scars, stress, wounds.

Eucalyptus: (Eucalyptus globulus)
Fresh, medicinal, woody, earthy. Arthritis, bronchitis, catarhh, cold sores, colds, coughing, fever, flu, poor circulation, sinusitis. Very toxic when taken orally (no essential oil should be taken internally without the guidance of a qualified aromatherapy practitioner).

Eucalyptus, Lemon: (Eucalyptus citriodora)
Sweet, lemony, fresh, with a woody hint. Arthritis, bronchitis, catarhh, cold sores, colds, coughing, fever, flu, poor circulation, sinusitis.

Eucalyptus Radiata: (Eucalyptus radiata)
Slightly camphorous, sweet, fruity. Arthritis, bronchitis, catarhh, cold sores, colds, coughing, fever, flu, poor circulation, sinusitis.

Fennel: (Foeniculum vulgare)
Sweet, somewhat spicy, licorice-like (Anise) aroma. Bruises, cellulites, flatulence, gums, halitosis, mouth, nausea, obesity, toxin build-up, water retention. Avoid in epilepsy and if pregnant.

Fir Needle: (Abies alba)
Fresh, woody, earthy, sweet. Arthritis, bronchitis, colds, coughs, flu, muscle aches, rheumatism, sinusitis.

Frankincense "Olibanum": (Boswellia carterii)
Fresh, woody, balsamic, slightly spicy and fruity. Anxiety, asthma, bronchitis, extreme coughing, scars, stress, stretch marks.
