Mark's Famous Hearty Five Bean Chili

Many of you wanted to know the recipe for my famous chili. If you have never liked chili, please try this recipe for a bowl of hearty chili! One of the main reasons I have added these ingredients is not only for their flavor, but also because the finished bowl is not monocromatic.

Serves: 10

Ingredients:
1 lb of ground beef, turkey, or pork sausage
2 14.5 oz cans of chili beans in chili sauce.
3 14.5 oz cans of two other types of beans (red, kidney, ----)
1 14.5 oz can of pinto or great northern (white) beans
1 14.5 oz can of frijolies (black) beans
1 14.5 oz can of corn
2 26 oz cans of diced tomatoes
2 10 oz cans of tomatoes & green chilies
2 10 oz cans of tomato sauce
1/2 pkg of fresh mushrooms, diced
1 green, red or yellow peppers, diced
1 small onion, diced.
Chili pepper, Montreal Steak Spice, and garlic powder

Instructions
1. In a small skillet, saute mushrooms, peppers, and onion. 2. In another skillet, brown meat in a skillet and, if not already spiced, put a dask of Montreal Steak Spice in. Chop meat finely with spatula. Put in Crock Pot or large cooking pot.
3. While the meat browns, add in all of the canned ingredients. I usually drain the beans if they are not in their own sauce.
4. Add a dash of chili powder and garlic powder to your tastes.
5. I like to make this chili in a crock pot so it can simmer all day while I am at work. If I leave it on the low setting, in 6-8 hours I have a nicely blended plethora of flavours. You can simmer this chili on high for 3-4 hours or simmer on the stovetop for 1 1/2 hours, however, it has never tasted as good to me.
Feel free to modify this recipe to your tastes and experiment a little. This is what I like, perhaps you'll discover you have different tastes. The main thing to learn is this--chili isn't just hamburger and kidney beans! (Yuck!!!)

Happy cooking !!!
