you swagger in
big man
like you own the ground
you're walking on

broad shoulders hunched,
heels scuffing the floor
your gaze a warning

your eyes say
nobody's going to drag you
out the door

you think you're so tough
standing there
tall and scowling

you think you're so great
standing there
towering above us all

but when you stop
and see that you're walking
with clay feet
you have to wonder
if you're that big
after all
