KNOCKING AT THE DOOR

Have you seen the painting of Jesus
        knocking at a door?
Looking at the path where He stands,
        He’d been there before,
There is no latch for him to try and lift
        to let Himself in,
As He stands knocking, do we hear Him
        as we sit within?
How long has He been there knocking,
        does He ever tire?
Leaving Him outside in the cold as
we sit by the warm fire,
We may think we do not need Him,
        make it on our own,
I’m sure we know, He’s the only way
        to a heavenly throne.
Let Him in, not like the innkeeper saying
        no room, let Him in,
Let Him in, feel His love, let him in,
        God’s glory to win.
