Sheep In The Fold

It is usually the sheep that wander from the fold,
And so become detached and lost out in the cold,
It is the sheep that will lead the lamb astray,
Show him a different path, a much darker way.

We, as sheep, must be careful not to wander far
From the safety of the fold, where all virtues are,
For we sheep have a good shepherd to show the way,
We never should from His side want to stray.

But sheep can be stubborn and turn a deaf ear
To the counsels of a loving God, who is always near.
Yet we push away without a single thought of Him,
And so go our way amidst evils great din.

If we as sheep wander and a lamb follows too,
Can we hold our head high at the things we both do?
If we see the error of our wicked or dishonest ways
Will the lamb follow us, or stay in sin the rest of his days?

So sheep, before you wander away from the fold
Think of the example, your influence on others may hold.
If we stay close to the Shepherd, His voice always obey,
We will not be held responsible if others fall away.

Set a good example, listen to the Shepherds voice,
Then you will always be there to make a wiser choice,
Then to those who sometimes wander far afield,
The Lord will make you a shepherd, His will to yield.
