IT TOOK A CHILD TO SHOW THE WAY

I’ll tell you a tale of a very good man,
One that was quite honest and true.
Who searched for truth always and his plan
Was to follow it his whole life through.

One day he met a good Latter-Day Saint,
His example was perfect in every way,
Save for telling of the gospel, his heart faint,
He may think him silly, you lose friends that way.

The man went to a wedding, sat by a pretty girl
Who did not drink or smoke, eyes shining bright.
She spoke no word of the gospel, her heart in a whirl
Should she spread the gospel? Share the light.

But they talked about weather and last nights game,
Talked about the food and the presents piled high.
Not one word of the gospel, Oh what a shame,
For his heart was ready, the Lord gave a sigh.

One more time the Lord tried him the truth to find,
A child in the park playing with his new kite.
Fell over the man’s feet, the man was so kind,
“What do you know of Mormons?” He chose the right.

The man took the discussions and often asked why
It took a young child to show the way to the light,
He did not let the opportunity pass him by
But spoke out without fear with all his might.
