GLAD TO BE ADDICTED
To eat, breath and live for truth and light,
To serve my God with all my mind and might,
To think of others before selfish old me,
To be worthy one day of an eternal family,
If these things make me an addict, Is that bad?
No, for my heart rejoices and I am glad.
Addiction to other things brings hurt and pain,
Like drinking, smoking shooting drugs and cocaine.
Pleasure for a short while these things bring,
But later, the heart that suffers can no longer sing.
But addiction to God, service to others around
Brings a sweet peace and joy that will always abound.
I am willing to die rather than forsake the true path
For this way will give me all my dear Father hath.
But if I stop serving my life will still go on,
No ill side affects to my body would ever come.
No, this addiction is a cure for all cruelty and wrong,
For as I follow this path of right I will sing a joyful song.
For my heart rejoices, sweet peace and joy fills my heart,
This is life eternal if I strive always to do my part.
