WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM
1st John 3: 2
John, the beloved of the Lord who knew Him well,
Had many wonderful things to us to often tell,
Yet when he tells us that we are like God above,
Does it not make us want to live in peace and love?
We know He is coming, yet know not when Hell appear,
Will that day be a day of the greatest joy or incredible fear ?
For more than in my physical form, I want to be like Him,
But strive everyday to be good and loving and pure within.
We are sons and daughters of God, true heirs of deity,
Outer beauty is of naught, it is the part that we cannot see
That will make us eternally His child, who we really are,
Are we like the Master? Or have we strayed a little too far?
I know we are created in His image, a king or queen in embryo
Am I right now my inner thoughts and secrets willing to show?
Could I face the Lord if He were to knock at my front door?
The love of the Father have I shown and all my thoughts pure?
We shall be like Him, I pray, in more than mortal shape and form,
And be like Him in thought, word and deed and also well worn
In the service of our fellow men, like Him by striving for perfection,
Our sins washed away by the blood of Lamb, go where He has gone.
When I see Him as He is, I humbly pray I will not be ashamed,
That all my life for His glory, through selfless service, ever aimed,
That I shall see in His countenance the reflection of my face,
Knowing that I have fought the good fight and won a noble race.
