EAR HATH NOT HEARD
1st Corinthians 2: 9,
I have heard mighty hymns sang by great choirs,
Heard wonderful symphonies and gentle airs,
Listened to the lovely sweet nightingale sing,
And heard the sea powerful harmony bring
To the ears and hearts of men on this earth,
Felt the love of music of great worth.
Yet we are told this is naught compared
With the sounds of heaven that will be heard
By those who love Jesus, what joy will be there,
I think all the sounds that have eased each care,
What must those notes be like? How sweet each voice,
Each instrument made must all want to swell and rejoice.
My eyes have seen sunsets that take your breath away,
And a rich forest where timid creatures safely play,
Seen flowers spread like a carpet fit for a queen,
Then sat by a lake where perfect reflections are seen,
Seen a sunrise that has filled the heart with Gods love
And we are told these are nothing compared with above,
For those who love Jesus and follow in His holy ways
Well have better scenes that last while eternity stays.
How God loves to prepare a place more beautiful than this,
Can we with earthly hearts, really know and feel the bliss
That eternity with the Saviour can to us all freely bring,
Oh, how we should love and serve and His praises ever sing.
