GETTING USED TO THINGS
It is really surprising what you can get used to if you try,
Take smoking for instance, first you splutter and wheeze
But you keep trying with many a coughing fit and a sigh
Until you overcome the pain, now smoking is a breeze.

It is the same with a lot of things we are warned about,
If we listen to the spirit life should work out just fine,
But if we think we know best, want to scream and shout
When we are taught the truth, say not God’s will but mine,

We will land in trouble start treading along the wrong way,
Start getting used to the great uncomfortableness of sin
Until it becomes second nature to be hurting every day,
Slowly you don’t notice then Satan has started to win.

Please don’t ever get used to evil, in any slight degree,
Evil works so surreptitiously a little bit here and there,
At first you don’t notice, please don’t not wait to see
The effects of Satan grasp and then the two compare.

For you will not always see the changes you have made,
I’m still the same deep inside, God loves me any old way,
Stop before Satan’s cruel hand for you cannot be stayed
And the road back will take you until your dying day.
