NOT EVERYONE
Matthew 7:21
Not everyone that sayeth unto me, Lord, Lord,
The Saviour wisely said, but follow His word,
Is it easier to preach a sermon or to do a good deed?
Or both ways His lost and hungry sheep to feed?
Ive oft thought, what is for me our Fathers will?
Set a good example, a worthy mission to fulfil.
Is that enough, Should I not alway cry to the Lord
As I strive to follow the scriptures holy word?
Then one night I understood that message sweet,
The words, not everyone, my inquiring eyes did meet,
Not everybody, but some just pretend to go to serve,
And they will reap all the blessing they deserve.
I can Praise the Lord, sing joyous songs to Him above,
And while I do this serve Him, my fellow men always love,
And my Lord, Lord, will count because I always do try
To serve everyday my beloved Master who waits on high.
