THE WISER CHOICE
Thoughts from the saying “Stay away from anything that
makes you less than you ought to be.” By President Hinckley.

Every morning we awake and get ready for another day,
And I think there is something to mention as we pray,
That we may stay away from things that make us weak,
Anything that will lessen or stop us as for heaven we seek.

Do no act that will make us heads bow in hurting shame,
Or speak no harsh words or another’s name try to defame,
Or watch a program that the sweet holy spirit could kill,
Or listen to corrupt word or music of out own free will.

I pray that these feet of mine will not wander astray
From the path that leads to heaven, follow the right way,
For we are all children of God and heirs of heaven,
Please, Lord, help me not to diminish this gift freely given.

I’ll steer my thoughts to righteousness and pure love.
I’ll stay away from sin, prepare to live with God above,
I’ll listen to good music, and the gentle prompting voice,
For as God’s child I should always make the wiser choice.
