OBEDIENCE
It is not always easy to obey God’s holy command
Spoken by His prophets, to us in these latter days.
Abraham would sacrifice his son with trembling hand,
Early saints left all behind to tread untraveled ways.

They kept the word of wisdom, not even knowing why,
Save Joseph was told by the Lord they should not be used.
To pay one tenth of income can be hard for some to pay,
Yet they do it so they may enter the temple, not be refused.

We may think that there are words that don’t apply to us,
We are busy doing our things, rather than what should be done.
Thinking we know better than the Lord, maybe make a big fuss
Because we think it will not make our salvation lost or won.

But it is a slothful servant that is commanded in all things,
So the dear Lord said, it is good to always choose to obey,
Gain the extra blessing that strict obedience can bring.
It may be something small that might make you want to say,
“Why should I bother doing that, it’s such a silly thing.”
There may be some blessings that may never come your way.

Sometimes it is hard to live the gospel, much easier to die
For the truth that is ours, but living it makes us strong.
So when we meet the Saviour face to face and he asks why
Was it in the little things where you just went wrong.
