SONNET NO. 19
         MUSIC

Oh, the sound of music you sometimes hear,
First, nature’s contribution sweet and free
Rising on the wind, like a symphony,
Whispering trees and song birds loud and clear,
Gentle lapping of waves, their roar, like a cheer,
Rustling of the grass, buzzing of the bee,
Some of natures music coming to me.
The final chord of howling wolves so near.
Yet just as sweet is manmade music dear
That helps the mind of earthly things be free,
It can sooth a child on a mother’s knee
Like a healing hand, removing all fear.
So play music in dulcet tones sweet,
Man made or nature, my new day to greet.
