SINGING
If with my voice I can no longer sing,
Then let my hearts music sail on silent wing
To my God so I may tell of my great love
For all the beauteous gifts from heaven above.
If my ears can no longer sweet sounds hear
That bring so much joy that is so very dear,
Let the remembrance stay fresh every day
Of gentle music, bird song, children at play..
If I could no longer see a sun set in all its glory,
May, I pray, still be able to tell the great glory
Before seen ,and so bring tears of joy to my eyes
In remembering and re-seeing all that is good and wise.
Gifts we take for granted like voice, hearing and sight
Are so precious to us and fill our lives with delight,
Yet how often do we show gratitude to our God on high
For beauty of voice, hearing birds or a watch coloured sky.
