POETRY ON MY MIND
Sometimes many poems flow through my mind
Like tangled multicoloured ribbons that bind
Themselves together in a chaotic confusion of beauty,
Words skipping and dancing all wanting to be set free.
A green ribbon poem is about newly showing plants,
White, a small child in prayer hoping God grants
The kitten or puppy when parents have said no.
Brown is a poem of elegant deer that through the forest go,
Red of course is of my loved thoughts so dear and sweet.
Or maybe a pink ribbon for a new person to meet.
First I take a ribbon, free it until it comes to my heart,
Let the words flow freely they know how to do their part,
One by one catch them and those ribbons are tamed,
One by one written down and rightly named,
But just as all the coloured ribbons are bright to rest,
More and more come dancing with great zest.
